Tips On How To Sneak Into The Shows...

me and my friend are planning on 'sneaking' into the fw09 shows in london. :(

our plans are ridiculous. :/

how are you going to do it. i live in london and would love to attend a show this season.

^ ok so basically:

my friend is on the phone and pompously she says, "he wanted ICE COLD water!!! ugh he is not going to be very happy, send it back and make sure it's ICE COLD".

Then casually she walks through the entrance, ignoring the guards, and then says to them and points at me, "she's with me".

lol i really don't think it's gonna work.

Just asking, what happens if you get caught? Is it very common that people sneak in?

i have no idea, i really think we will get caught. It will be fun though.

Quick Question!

I'm interning this winter, and my boss received an invite to the William Rast show in Feb 09. He doesn't want to go and gave me the invite. Does that mean I can just RSVP myself? I am dying to go, but I'm just not sure if I can RSVP myself, because technically I wasn't invited. Any ideas???

Thanksssss

^First ask your boss how to RSVP. But you should probably RSVP as yourself or else you won't be able to get inside, because your name won't match the invitation/RSVP name.

Honestly, it's a matter of luck every time. Over the summer my girlfriend successfully snuck into the Vera Wang show for FWSpring 09 in NY. She went up to the tent and said she didn't have a ticket, and the girl behind the desk said to wait in a separate line, and they casually moved towards the tent and managed to get in! But the worst that could happen is they would tell you to leave. But hey, maybe you'll see some sweet celebs so it would be worth it either way! You just have to have the balls to try, and there is always a chance that you'll get in! Good luck!

I went to see the Michalsky show a couple of days ago, but I didnt like it that much (especially not the fur pieces). Still, it was a fun experience. I dont think I would ever have the guts to sneak in to a show, but Im thinking about changing that pretty soon. The Berlinale is only a couple of days away, and Im capable of doing almost anything for a ticket to some fancy (or not so fancy) premiere :ninja:

Anyone have experience with NYC fashion week and tips to share...? :)

I got an invite for Malandrino 2 years ago..My memory is a little foggy but I don't recall receiving tickets other than I think a slip of white paper or something like that...do most shows have it like it that? Would it help to come prepared with index cards and pens? :P

How difficult is it to request a press pass as a blogger?
And how easy it it to request invitations simply as a customer/potential buyer?

LOL.

So basically:

My two friends and I went to Luxborough Street to go outside the Christopher Kane show. We came too late and so the Richard Niccoll show was there so we just waited outside. We randomnly just sat down on some random doorstep, we found a 10 magazine and it had Suzy Menkes' invitation and some press info about the show. We could've so EASILY got in but my friends were being so annoying so I couldn't :( gahhhh
It wasn't that bad because the photographers outiside were very nice and gave me some info on where the Aquascutum show is (they are very discrete about their venues etc).
And we saw Kanye West, Alexa Chung and lots of models. It was really nice, but i kind of made an idiot of myself in front of Kanye West. he was right in front of us just posing and my friend was going CRAZY. I didn't care too much because I was going crazy about the girls, so i just snapped and said in a LOUD voice: 'I don't give a **** about Kanye West.' UGH. he heard and so did his bodyguard (i think it was). I got a filthy dirty look. i cant say i didnt deserve it.

The next day was the Giles show. A certain tfser claimed to know the address and gave me it. So my other friend and I rushed after school to the 'venue' with our camera's etc and we had SO much trouble on the way. It was in the middle of NOWHERE. so in the end we found ourselves in BRICK LANE. ugh. and it was not the venue. we took like 2 hours to get there. We were actually given the address to Giles Deacon's office. :furious: :furious:
we asked around for the address to the venue, we went to some random showrooms about the area, one was Madonna's clothes  and another was this very shabby looking...i think...brothel?, so in the madonna showroom this security guy told us to ask this random guy on thr phone in the glass office building. He gave us a sheet which was an email of the actual address. So we went there which took us another hour and everyone was packing away. it had all ended. So my friend and I just walked around the place and then got kicked out by some backstage guy.
it was really tiring. But to be honest, it was a real adventure and quite funny in the end.

thanks for sharing your experience with us Kushie ^_^
It sounds like you had quite a day.

a teacher once told me that she had a friend who always did the same to get invited to the sows. She just wrote them an email from whatever designer website of the show she wanted to go and asked for an invitation. i dont know what she said on the emails, supposedly she just said she wanted to go and she was a fan blah blah blah but she always got her invitation. i wouldnt think this could work, i mean it sounds too easy, but my teacher claims her friend did it and it worked.

Does anyone know how to get schedules for these shows? And if pictures of the invites can be found so they can be replicated? Also, if one gets past the security guards, are there more check-in places inside or is it safe? :woot: thanks!

Is anyone planning on going to Paris HC fashion week? Where are the best places to hang out nearby, as a lot of the locations are unlisted.

Interesting thread! Just found out about this thread a few seconds ago

Sneaking into the shows is exactly what I am going to do during the upcoming Paris menswear and HC fashion week (mainly to photograph backstage) I have sent email to every press contact from the modeaparis list but I haven't got any invitation yet

bump! :)

so my friend and i (both from vancouver BC) will both be in NYC for the start of NYFW, and also to attend the chictopia conference. we were hoping to maybe get into a few shows and even afterparties (but i'm not holding my breath). i've read through the whole thread but was wondering if there's any recent advice/tips for getting into some shows without invites? we will both be very nonchalant-chic so hopefully that will help... does anyone want to meet up? :) better yet, does anyone have any invites they don't want??? :D

I took advantage of the (former?) option of someone registered to work at NYFW waving you in. That's part of how I made myself known in the industry, at NYFW Spring/Summer 2008. If it's no longer an option, I'm probably to blame. ^_^

Had the chance to be there including inside the tents, but got the offer too late to pay for registration..and kinda got stalked by one of the ushers.

He bum rushed me in the lobby right after everyone who waved me and had the money to register left me alone..and out I went for a few minutes.

Then later that night, and right before The Academy of Arts College show, he almost escorted me out again..while the photographer I was assisting and I were waiting to get into the Tent, or wherever the show was held that year. Plus I was carrying that photographer's camera. Don't know what he would've done if it had been thown out with me. :p
