Hey there all you beautiful people!

Well I just happen to be about the least photogenic person on the planet. In part, I think, because I feel very uncomfortable when there’s a camera pointed at me. But I’m getting married next week, and we’ve hired a photographer and all that.

So unless the deer caught in the headlights look becomes acceptable in the next few days, I could really use some tips on how to look my best in pictures.

So all you models and other fabulous folks, are there any tricks to posing, smiling, etc. that you could pass my way?

Thanks! :flower:

Airbrushing! If it works for the models, it should work for you :woot:

I always keep these tips in mind when posing, but they may only be suitable for my face.. just a few thoughts tho:

-- Open your eyes wide.
-- Smile wide.
-- Wear dark colors and darker makeup when you know you are going to be photographed.
-- Any imperfection can like 10x worse or 10x better in a photo. Be concious.
-- Suck your stomach in.
-- Be natural, but not too natural.
-- Never let yourself be photographed eating.
-- Never stand directly to the camera. Tilt your body to the side, it makes you look slimmer.

Two things I've found for body shots -

1) Standing at an angle is slimming (i.e. one foot slightly in front of the other)
2) Place the same arm as the back foot slightly back to avoid flabby looking arms (i.e. your hand/wrist back by your bum almost like your grabbing your back upper thigh)

I haven't really gotten the knack of head shots, but I have been trying to nix the habit of cocking my head to the side which always looks kind of silly to me and I ALWAYS did that!

According to America's Next Top Model :D, you can practice in the mirror for this stuff. Never tried it, but I imagine it works. Find your best angle in the mirror and then duplicate it.

Good luck and congratulations :clap::flower:

blink right before the photographer takes the picture. i tend to get sleepy eyes in photos and this keeps that from happening, makes the eyes look more fresh.

I'd say, feeling good is definitly important....and since it's you're wedding day you'll be smiling as it is so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'd say remember to keep your chin down rather than pointing at the sky, it can so often happen in photographs when you get the 'big chin and I can see your brain up your nostrils' look. Angles always look better, standing at an angle and relaxing one side more rather than standing straight on and looking like your in a police line up. Congratulations on your wedding, I hope you have a beautiful day...with beautiful pictures :flower:

It's simple. Get a paper bag.

Place it gently over your head.

SMILE!!! ;) :p

Yup, that was going to be my first piece of advice. The light's most flattering to your face that way.

I know many people for whom keeping their chins down works like magic; lighting, enlarges eyes, evens out proportions.

However, I also know many people for whom it doesnt work...creates dark circles under eyes or worse yet, makes dark hollows out of your eyes!

It all depends on your bone structure, so I would say really experiment with what works best.

HAVE FUN!!! :flower:

Thanks you guys for all the responses!

I've noticed a lot of celebs do the one foot in front thing. I've been spending enough time in front the mirror in my dress, so I might as well "strike a pose." while I'm at it

And just in case I'll keep a paper bag handy :p

I am totally un-photogenic & hate having my photograph taken. However, my wedding photos turned out wonderful & I'm really pleased with them.
Its your big day - if you feel good, you'll look good - even on the photographs!

Congrats, discostu!!!

My tip for you is to face the camera at an angle and oh, SMILE LOTS!!! :flower:

chin down makes me look better. i just noticed that. thanks for the advice:flower:

i might be too late, but wanted to help anyway.

i just got married 9 months ago and was stressed most about my pictures. i mean i studied celebes in magazines, myself in the mirror, made my sister use the dig camera and i pose then look at the camera to see how it turned out...i did it all.

everything came out great & just relax. try the dig camera thing.

not photogenic, help !!!!!!!!

hello, every lovely friends, i really dunno where to post this, but i think this is the right place for me to post my life-long problem, if anyone can just help, i will be extremely happy...and greatly appreciate it.

this is my problem, whenever i take photos, the pictures come out to be weird! i dunno why, everyone says my photo looks different from me, but i think some of you guys may help me with your personal experience....

firstly, my eyes look quite dead in pics, i dunno whether it is too big or what, but in real person, my eyes are quite sparkling.....any tricks to help?

secondly, my mouth, very unnatural posed, as my mouth is quite big, as my lips are full. is there any way to help it looks just a bit small with the nature together, cos i tend not to show my full lips out, but mouth ends up being very weird in the picture.

finally yet most importamntly. i have high cheek bones, which is normal and usual, but when it comes to photo shoot, it makes my head look 2 times bigger, i wonder if anyone just can help me with it? perhaps some of you have faced the problems, and like to share with me?

once again, i appreciate that:woot:
