Tokyo shopping

yup barneys is definitedly worth a look; pretty complete selection although mostly import brands and therefore more expensive as you are in tokyo. on the other hand you might want to check out isetan to see a good range of highend japanese stuff. of course, united arrows, beams, etc also provide a good selection of japanese stuff.

Maybe it has been said before, if so, tell me

Most high end brands are around Ginza since its known as the expensive side of Tokyo. WAKO in Ginza can get pretty expensive. Most cheap stuff is on Shibuya (Shibuya 109 specially) and Harajuku because its the young shopping area.

Also, by meaning cheap, I mean cheap by the standards of living here. It might seem weird but if you are going to wear a lot of makeup, the store owner might not let you try things on

thanks surver!

are there any more structured japanese designers? I don't really suit the soft, organic look...

yeh mimo, i've been to harajuku/shibuya area before and there was this one departmenty area (maybe it was opposite gap and near chanel etc) that was absolunately pACKED with young people! i just had to leave! i can't handle huge crowds haha

i checked out the superfuture or maybe it was sumfortune link posted in the first page or two and it's great. It maps out all the shopping areas like ginza, shibuya etc... it's great!!

Stores like SHIPS and designers like Ato, G.V.G.V., Matoho and Tiny Dinosour tend to have more of a stuctured look

I'm going there end of Feb! Are there many chain stores there, or is it mostly boutiques? Also are there good markets in Tokyo? And does anyone know how expensive the Chloe cafe is? Thanks!

anyone know where the HARE store is located? couldn't find it when i was in harajuku. want to check it out when i'm there next time (in 2 months, loved it so much i just had to travel there again :))

I'm going to Tokyo in January and was wondering if anyone can recommend any good vintage shops.

The last time I was in Tokyo I couldn't find any...Tokyo is huge, I was completely lost :P

cherrypixie:

Tutus, ruffles, feathers and other flights of dramatic sartorial fancy crowd the walls of Rosy Baroque, a cozy vintage clothing shop in the heart of Shibuya. Look for beaded satin ballet flats, sequin gowns and other gems that are imported from around the world. Sister stores Hypnotique (for retro) and Cabaret (for flash) lie just a few steps away.

6F, 1-12-14 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku. Tel: 03-3463-7809. Open daily noon-8pm. Nearest stn: Shibuya.

Are there any good thrift store in tokyo? esp accessories, all the accessories in the Japanese Street Style look so great and unique. And how about Chloe cafe? Has anyone actually went there? Recommend please.

Oh and what's the weather like in May? I'm planning to go there in May and i'm frustrated about what clothes to bring :(

anyone got a good link with fashion and art galleries not to miss ...
i think i'll have time on my own while my man will be in the extravaganza videogames buildings ...

july is usually rainy season, so be prepared for rain. if its not raining then it is ungodly humid...

as for thrift stores, just hand around ura-hara (ura-harajuku) and theres tons of shops back there.

Magazines you can find at any big book store, Books 1st, Junkudo, Kinokuniya are the big names.

For art events: http://www.tokyoartbeat.com/index.en

Can`t help about Kyoto except Sistere which seems pretty fantastic..
