i no what you mean! loads of people at school are just starting the emo look, they try so hard, its sooooo bad
OMG!! Come to Sydney, and you will come across some of the most lamest tryhard 'emo' kids ever! Let me try and paint a picture for you:
Large contingents of 13-16 yr olds all dress in black, including their black skinny jeans with their chuck taylors, beads and tyed ribbon (referring to girls) in their spiked up, unwashed, black and blonde low-light hair. The boys walk around with their skinnies hanging half way down their ****, thinking they look so 'emo' with their unkept, long fringed hair trying to pretend they don't really care what they look like, even though they make sure that their fringe is precisely covering one eye. They all take up smoking coz having a lit cigarette in your hand makes you "way cool and totally emo".Their outfit is not an 'emo' outfit unless they're wearing a music shirt showing their complete and utter dedication to some band i.e. The Used ,Simple Plan, Green Day are among the favourites. Along with the band tee, they carry around either a skateboard, an I-pod that is blasting the latest band obsession e.g Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance, certain facial body piercings or a mix of the three. The one thing that stays constant, would probaby be the "I-hate-the-world-and-the-world-hates-me' attitude. It can be really lame and cringeworthy but oh well, I guess that they're 'emo' and no matter how I hard to try to convince myself that this is just a phase, to them, it's a state of mind and ultimately trendy.
I just personally don't think that sumone should spend their pocket money on a $50 Ramones band T-shirt just because everyone else is doing it. It should be abt the music, not just the trend. In saying this, not every single person I see wearing a whole outfit in black means that they're tryhards, it's just you can really tell which ones have fallen victim to the trend and who haven't, well IMO anywayz....sorry 4 the big rant, but I had to vent out my frustration...
