Twilight vampire laughs off Robert Pattinson autograph request: Cameron Bright prepares for New Moon fame

I didn’t realize I’d be doing an interview with a vampire the next time I caught up with Cameron Bright.

Bright, 16, hasn’t even started filming his scenes as Alec — part of the Volturi vampire clan and twin brother of Jane (Dakota Fanning) in the Twilight sequel New Moon — yet he has been affected by Twilight mania since the day he was cast.

“It’s going to be kind of weird,” admits the Nanaimo, B.C., actor who confesses he had to be dragged to see Twilight, the first in a series of movies based on Stephenie Meyer’s popular romantic teenage vampire novels.

“All the guys were saying, ‘It’s a chick movie,’ but it was really good,” Bright recalls. “I’m glad to be a part of it.”

No sooner had news reports surfaced about Bright joining the New Moon cast headlined by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Michael Sheen, than he began getting text messages from his friends.

“Even if you’re in it for five minutes, you’re huge,” says the Victoria-born actor who made his debut in a Telus commercial. “You’re revered.”

Not surprisingly, he has also been getting more attention from female friends.
“I say ‘no’ right away, because when they walk up to me, I can sense what they’re going to say,” he says, laughing. “Can you get me Robert Pattinson’s autograph?’ ”

Bright, who hadn’t read the books, says it was easy finding a Twilight fan to help him research his role.

“I said, ‘I’m going to play Alec. Do you know him? Yeah? Sweeeet! Thanks, ya did the job for me.’ ”

While he hasn’t worked with Fanning, he met her at the Critic’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles two years ago.

“She didn’t know who I was, so when I introduce myself and go, ‘Hey, do you remember me?’ she’ll probably say no,” he says, adding he should get to know her quickly on the Vancouver set. “In our first scene, I get to kiss her on the cheek.”

Standing 5-10, with longish hair and the demeanour, vocal inflections and lingo of a typical texting teenager, Bright seems worlds away from his younger self, the cherubic youngster known for playing spooky children.

He savours his memories of getting to work with Hollywood royalty in his first two major movies. He played Adam, the sinister clone of a distraught couple’s dead son, opposite Robert De Niro in Godsend; and Sean, a solemn 10-year-old boy claiming to be the reincarnation of the late husband of a fragile New York widow played by Nicole Kidman in Birth. He even managed to survive a media firestorm that erupted at the Venice Film Festival over a controversial scene, in which he removes his clothes and climbs into a bathtub with the Aussie actress before they kiss.

Among other roles, Bright has also played a sadistic misfit in The Butterfly Effect; an abused boy who murders his stepdad in Running Scared; the son of Aaron Eckhart’s Big Tobacco lobbyist in Thank You for Smoking; maternal mutant babe Milla Jovovich’s gifted charge in Ultraviolet; and a mutant child in X-Men: The Last Stand.

He can also be seen in two DVD movies:He plays the teenage son of a derelict building’s disturbed caretaker (Deborah Kara Unger) in the horror film Walled In; and a 13-year-old obsessed with a bombshell (Gretchen Mol), who’s romantically linked to John F. Kennedy, in the upcoming An American Affair, a thriller/coming-of-age flick set in the early 1960s.

The talkative teen says he has grown accustomed to his fame, and laughingly shrugs off the antics of some overzealous fans, such as one who impersonates him on MySpace.

“I think it’s a riot,” says Bright, who has even playfully posed as a fan himself and interacted with the impostor.

“I go ‘Hey, how’s it going? Must be cool being in all those movies.’ ”
He isn’t complaining, though, realizing it’s all part of the acting career he signed up for.

“My fans make me, and if I didn’t respect them, I wouldn’t be here,” says Bright, not yet targeted by the tabloids.

“I’m too lovable,” he quips, adding “my friend Bob De Niro” has shown him you can be famous and still avoid the tabloid glare. “You never really hear about Bob unless he’s doing something good, like his Tribeca festival. He’s not being derided.”

Still, he’s ready for what the future might bring, especially since Alec’s profile increases in the third and fourth books.

“Does Cameron realize how big he’s going to be?” a neighbour asked Anne, who’s happy her son will be seen in a family movie.

If his profile does rises ridiculously, the actor has a plan to deal with it.
“If I see a girl wearing a T-shirt with my face on it, I’m turning around and walking the other way,” he says, laughing. “I would not be able to keep a straight face. I’ll run out of the mall.”

a little description for the pics above^

Rob had been @ Bella's House all night. Drove in at around 5:30 pm. Filming breakup scene. Just before 5am, the SUV that transports him pulled out.. slowed down and Rob rolled down his window. First thing he said is "What are you all doing here" "Don't you have school tomorrow"?

He was on his iPhone when he first drove up, smiling as he saw fans waiting for him. There was only about 10 girls by the entrance to the set.

Then one fan asked him to sign her copy of NM, Rob said "yeah".. and as he was doing that he stopped and said "oh, I am signing over somebody's name" (Stephenie Meyer's) But then he finished.

He then said thanks to fans for being out there, he was very giggly and shy as usual. As he left I said good luck. He said Thank you!

New Moon at the theatre

As I first reported earlier this week, they shot more theatre scenes last night for New Moon with Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Anna Kendrick.

By the way, next week’s schedule is even hotter.

Didn’t realise Anna Kendrick was so little. Kristen is about 5 ft 4. No more. She towers over Anna. There’s a frame or two among these of director Chris Weitz and Michael Welch is in town for this too.

Also, Kristen has a great ***.

Oh and one more thing – Michael Arangano, Kristen’s boyfriend, was still in town as of yesterday. He’s come to visit a couple of times on set.

more info about the scene pictured above^

So last night we found out about the exterior theatre set - since I know people are going to ask let me explain... in New Moon, Kristen goes to the Theatre (movies) with Jessica - remember?

ok good,

then also she goes with Mike and Jacob - ringing bells?

good!

YES they "already filmed the movie scene" at Ridge Theatre in Vancouver....

and YES they also filmed Entertainment Tonight inside there.....

good for you - glad to see you keeping up - - however, last night was "EXTERIOR" shots, this means OUTSIDE!~

The funniest part of this all is that they were at the "Paramount" which is a STRIP JOINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BAHAHHAHAHHAhahahaha - Granted it's a "juice bar" (non-alcohol strip joint) yea I know - what's the point right? But it's a nudie club none-the-less.

It was hilarious because one side of the board (Which would list movies playing at a normal theatre) said "2 for 1 dances" and the other side (used in the film shots) advertised the "fake movie" they go see....

OK - let's get to the "what happened"

We crossed the street and joined the others who were piled behind barricades.

It was pretty awesome - just across the street was all the action... of course due to higher numbers of spectators (NO IDEA how they all found out - - - public twitter from people whose opinions I don't share....*ahem* ) they started to increase security and soon there was little to see but giant screens that blocked the views, bright lights and of course - - - more security.

*sigh*

Some drunk people in Canucks jerseys came by hooting and hollering - 'twas funny They asked "whuts going on heeere?"

I told them "p*rn"

(not too far-fetched, it *IS* a nudie bar LOL)

The truck went by spraying the streets to show "rain" and a man sprayed the cars with Washington plates making them wet also.

Isn't it funny how this long stretch without rain is when they are filming - I find it crazy!!!

We saw Kristen milling about and then Taylor with his long hair. He waved to us before hopping into his vehicle and driving away....

Rumours were mixed as to if Rob would be there or not - I guessed not as he wasn't at the movies, nor did she "see" him while entering/exiting the movies...

But we will get to that....

So KStew hops in her car and they do a lot of moving about of screens, lights etc.

We see Mike talking with someone and we all sort of just - take in all the action going on - Chris Weitz was there, it was totally rad to see him walking around.... I took a photo of his director chair - I am *THAT* big of a dork :)

We got to watch Bella and Jessica exit the movies several times. There was mostly a screen blocking/walking with them but from our angle you could see them most of the time.

We arrived *AFTER* the scene where Jacob apparently came out of the theatre and ran down the street. Lucky Fans who were there early witnessed that.

Then.... The Moment Many of You Wait to Read about in Anticipation LOL

RPattz rode up and got out *collective gasp, sigh, or other reaction* - we could see him but our cameras caught very little as we weren't allowed flashes and he was too far away that even with zoom, the no flash made my shakey hands take pohtos of blurs mostly.

Nonetheless I will post them when I have time - and my videos are pretty good actually.

Then up drove KStews vehicle and she got out.

They began their scenes.... we heard the call-outs for background, rolling etc. ubt couldn't hear the actors sadly.

One Papz Guy had a 40x zoom on his video mode so I stood behind him and watched a full screen of RP and KS - - - not gonna lie - it was totally awesome.

They were filming a scene we couldn't identify - they were NOT right in front of the theatre but on the street - so I have no clue what scene exactly it was... but they both looked great (thru a 40x zoon that is)

at this time it was like 3am and I had to be at work a few hours later... we realized we weren't going to get close and based on the people that were there (fans) we realized the cast would *NOT* come out

so we opted to leave.

We walked by and caught side glances of the crew and cast (not filming obviously, we would have been in the shot - although THAT would be hella cool) then when we left we drove by (again between scenes) and saw very little.

story
OOOH - One of the Nice Fans I met last night emailed me some pics and also the details that I missed since I was gone home and in bed sleeping -

My daughter and I went there about 8:00 pm and left around 10:00pm...too many screens to really see anything and too many people.

We came back at 3:00 am...few left and we saw some filming...it was Robert, Kristen and Anna.

More left...we were down to 6...they finished, they drove off without waving...but we then caught up with them at the trailers...

Kristen came out into her car to leave...two girls try to chase her with their car-but was stopped by schmuck. We 6 stayed. We waited for Rob to come out. He gets into car, we say hi and ask if he would take pictures. He comes over and takes pictures and autographs for us. It was too bad the fences were there, could not get a hug. We are soooooo happy anyways. I have attached a couple of pictures, but have cut us out of it. You can post these.

THANKS FOR THESE!!!!

I noticed in the new set pics that Kristen is wearing two different outfits. Perhaps one is for the cinema scene and the other for when Bella and Jessica go out? and as they say above, they shot a scene with Bella and Edward, perhaps is the scene when she approaches a group af guys and she hears (now sees) Edward...?

Thanks for those shots! That horror movie theyre seeing is supposed to be called something else lol I cant rmember

Video of Kristen filming last night
watch it here: http://vimeo.com/4442665

You can actually hear some of her lines - she's on the back of the motorcycle - don't watch if you don't like spoilers

here how the filming went

The set took place behind the theatre where they were filming yesterday on a long strip of road under the skytrain rails. They set up a “One-Eyed Pete” sign for the bar. Neat!

Because we got there so late, we missed all of Rob’s scenes. This is how his scenes were filmed, and how they are going to incorporate more of him into the movie than the book: In this scene in the movie, Bella leaves the theatre with Jessica (the first time she goes to the theatre, not the second time when she goes with Mike and Jacob)… and encounters the same gang that she did in the first movie. And they’ve got motorcycles. She decides to go on a joyride with one of the gang members to try to upset Edward into appearing in her head again. Only in this particular movie scene, they actually filmed Rob Pattinson standing right beside Kristen Stewart telling her not to go, with Kristen standing and talking to the gang member beside his bike.

So that’s my best guess at the Bella motorcycle mystery based on what I saw on set. This scene is not like New Moon… in the book, her and Jessica see the gang members sitting in a pub through the window. There was never any motorcycle scenes. The ones ones in the book are with Taylor Lautner on dirtbikes and he wasn’t there. (He was filming the scenes where he jumped from Bella’s window at the Swan house set tonight) What do you think? Why is Kristen on a motorcycle when it’s not in the books?

So check out this video. SO COOL! I am so stoked to actually see this in person. I definitely CANNOT wait for the movie to come out. The motorcycle scene was shot 3 different ways: 1 with Kristen riding on the motorcycle with the gang member… shot from the front. One shot from the side, and one shot with the bike hooked up to a truck so that they could shoot close-up head-on shots. You can see this in the video.

Listen carefully — you can hear the director often yelling “ROLLING!”… “CUT”.. “3..2..1.. ACTION!” and the best part… near the end of the video clip, you can hear Kristen saying some of Bella’s lines… “Stop! STOP!” when the motorcycle gets going fast. Aaaaaaah! My guess is that they cut to the scene of Rob asking her to stop before she yells “Stop!” when they edit it all together.

And let me just say this — Kristen Stewart is one HECK of a cool chica. She did ALL her stunts tonight, at least the ones that I saw. Props for braving it out in the cold Vancouver night on a motorcycle all evening. Major Kudos, Kristen!

I think the horror movie was called "Dead End"? Something like that, I don't really remember either.

Two different outfits make sense. Bella goes to the movies on two occasions, the first with Jessica when she approaches the group of guys and hears Edward and the second when she goes to see a movie with Jacob and Mike. Two different scenes.

I like the way they've made the gang members appear on the bikes in New Moon, so that Bella can 'see' Edward again.

love that catherine video with nikki and michael.

Haha, me too. The video is so funny! Catherine's office looks very cool too.
