Two Tone Hair

I think it's because it's not on the ends. :ermm: I'm more a fan of it at the bottom where it looks like the hair has grown out over time.

I that pic Kristen had the under layer dyed black. That's how it was in New Moon I remember.

I've been a fan of this sort of style for a long time, and after spending a couple of hours looking through pics on tfs last night (and going through my current muse ruby aldridge's thread!) I decided to go for it.
I've never dyed my hair before, so it was it's natural colour. I was slightly concerned about doing it wrong, as I don't have any experience with colouring, but my hair is very long so I figured the worst possible scenario is that I hate it and have to cut a little off the bottom. No biggie.
I just picked up a cheap highlighting kit that contained bleach and put it on the bottom layer of my hair. Not onto the whole length, just the end six inches; and added some to the ends of the top layer.
It's come out really nicely and I'm really pleased with the end result :)
Any of you who are worried about doing it at home, don't be. It's easy and quick, plus you know how you want it to look, where as a professional hairstylist who doesn't really 'get' the look, maybe wouldn't do it how you'd like. Will post a picture for you guys later!

:o Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoa. Seriously? Was the color all you had done? Seems a little much, doesn't it? :ermm: Or, did you just go somewhere fancy? Or are you a generous tipper?

Yeah I went to Stephen Marr, so it is pretty expensive as they are the top hairdressers here.

Im going for my second lot of Balayage tonight, really excited!

I am an ashy blonde naturally and have been dying my hair really dark for a while, so its a long process trying to get it ash blonde on the top and lighter on the ends again.

Hey girls!
Am LOVING this look! Really want to try it out but not sure how to go about it! (i've you tubed for HOURS!)

I have really (boring!) dark brown hair- figured i'd do a test with bleach and see what happened after a while-it came out orange! -so not the look i was going for! Thank God i didn't do it directly to my hair right?! Has kinda put me off a little!
After you tubeing i've confused myself with the amount of ombre colour options!

Do i...

1. Try the bleach thing again and hope it works this time!
or
2. Bleach the ends then apply a ash brown colour up to the bleach line
or
3. Just stick a light ash brown colour on the ends of my hair and hope it will miraculously lighten as some people have on You tube..?

Please help! I'm so bored of my hair! Kinda wanting the rachel bilson/SJP kind of look- am i being totally unrealistic..? xx

my backwards two tone hair  it wasn't intentional but it may as well be.
last time in the salon we did a full weave of blonde highlight root to tip but did double the amount at my roots because i like perfect roots. next time i hope to bleach out the bottom 2X. i got a baby trim last time and i hate having to cut my hair! so we going slow on lightening the ends so i don't have to cut off more.

first one is photo, other two are video screen caps
color tones look different depending on photo vs video

me.

Wow. Just wow!

I just can't imagine the maintenance when it starts growing out though.

thank you papa, i'm in the salon once a month for root touch-up either way so i'm used to it

^ thank you loonaka ^_^

i actually saw a girl who was rockin' the Two Tone at school today. she had jet black hair on top and bright orange on the bottom. i don't know if the orange was intentional but she styled / curled her hair nicely, so she was workin' it * snaps fingas * B)

If I ever go to cheap hair coloring land I'm bringing a picture of your hair kissablekae ^_^

^ ;)

the receptionist / training hairdresser at my salon is doing the ombre look too. hers is subtle, she has medium brown hair with a bit of blonde, it's nice ^_^

though i had no intentions of doing two toned anything, i didn't go for the true ombre look because i really do want blonde around my face to brighten me up. if just my head shot was all brown, i would've been like what's the point? (for me). especially since my hair was so dark before, i really needed that sumin' sumin', ya know what i'm sayin' :brows:

I know what you mean:rofl:
I can't wait till the dark brown color washes out now, but I don't think it will anytime soon...but at least I'll have 2 tone hair maybe this summer if I don't cut it

when my friends / family want their hair dye to stay dark, it fades. when i want my dye to fade, it doesn't or takes foreverrr! ahhh!

I think it has something to do with the bleaching of the hair before I dyed it dark brown^^ Makes the color last longer?

^ yep bleached hair is more porous, sometimes it sticks more and sometimes it's the opposite and it just won't hold color

do you guys like it on Rachel here? i like it,in a way subtle yet obvious...but i wonder does it look as cool when doing more sleeker, straight look rather than always doing curly look, also depends if your hair is layered or not i guess:unsure:

I love Rachel's hair! she pulls it off like no one else, her hair is just perfect^_^

I love rachel's hair in that picture!!! i've been wanting to try the ombre hair for a long time now, but have just finally come around to plucking up the courage to do it. i think i may try it myself first, save a few bucks, but if disaster strikes then i can just have it fixed professionally.

i'm kind of worried though, my hair is naturally very dark brown, borderline black, but now it's dyed to a medium brown color...i'm wondering, if i put bleach on my dyed hair, will it go orange? does anyone know about this?
