Uggs

there is an ugg alternative called The Celtic Sheepskin Company (do a google search).........

I just got some chestnut classic shorts. My feet have been freezing, so I got them for practical reasons. But I can't help but feel really stupid wearing them. Would they look stupid folded down with skinny jeans? That's the only way I can see myself wearing them. I dunno. Maybe they should go back.

I know, I'm constantly flip-flopping between whether to buy them or not, if I were to get any I would get the sand classic short ones. My problem is I like them, but I think I might feel like a try-hard wearing them. Even though I live in Canada and it does get pretty cold here. I can't decide.

Well no offense to anyone on this thread, but you know you're 1 year behind the fashion curve if you just started liking/rocking uggs.

Its practical for winter, and that's it. nada, end of story.

If you liked uggs as a 'fashion' shoe I would say you were more like 2 or 3 years behind. I don't have an issue with wearing them as practical footwear though.

I have always DESPISED uggs, but I recently moved to a very cold climate and am looking for the NOMAD style but cant find them. Any suggestions, besides the ones on Ebay for over $300.00?

I detest Uggs-they look absolutely hideous. I can understand people wearing them in the winter because it's 35 degrees when school starts, but even then you could get something that looks better.

However Avon recently came out with an Ugg-style boot with faux shearling trim and faux suede (good for us vegetarians) which I will be getting because it looks unique and has a 3" heel.

Still it saddens me that I know Uggs are pretty laughable yet a lot of stores in Seattle carry Ugg-style boots and there actually is a girl in one of my classes who has at least 5 pairs.

2 things i dont understand:
1. the ugg trend
2. the UGGS-ARE-SO-UGLY-EW-I-HATE-THEM "trend"

It just bugs me how strongly detesting them seems to be a trend in itself. no, i'm not supporting the trend of wearing uggs to be "fashionable". nor do i think that they're utterly atrocious.

What I'm getting at, at least from what i've seen, is that people strongly hating uggs are, in effect, following a trend. this is just what i observed in other people, and i'm not trying to be rude or start an argument.

I'd just like to be able to wear my uggs (not because i think they're hot stuff) when i feel like being comfy without people giving me the "thats so last year, wear something original" look.

ok i'm done

^ totally hear ya!

I just bought my first UGGs!!! Baby blue...why? Because I'm off to London in two days, and I hear it's FREEZING COLD...I hope no one gives me the "thats so last year, wear something original" look though!!

^thanks! :)

and thanks for having the guts to write what you did. I personally, am in the middle..obviously, I don't want to be perceived as a "trend wh*re" or "so last season" kind of gal, but I'm also practical! When it's freezing cold, these seem an appropriate alternative!

I live in Toronto, and its freaking freezing here. I don't wear uggs as a fashion statement-but I'm hardpressed to find a pair of boots that are as warm and cozy as Uggs are, they're fabulous for our winters.

I've already worn my way through 1 pair of the classic shorts and I'm going to get a pair of Sundances because I like the sole better. I don't really care what anyone thinks of them, they're warm and comfy!

idk, i just bought a new pair of uggs in a darker blue color.

and they're super warm.

i bought them 2 sizes too big so they'll be nice and warm :)

they were 20 dollars on ebay

I don't own any. If someone gave me a pair of Uggs in black . . . I would wear them to a movie or the grocery store on a day when it is below zero . . . . and I'd wear jeans that would mostly cover them up.

I agree with some of the sentiments on this page. While I think they are not attractive shoes- they are extremely warm and comfortable and I wear them subtly with jeans when running errands in the freezing weather.
I'm going to take them with me to Lake Taho and see how they can stand up against the snow.

By the way, I bought my pair of tan "Uggs" from Nordstrom Rack BP section for $26.00 and I'm as happy with those as I would be with the $150.00 version :flower:

I say wear with whatever you want before it's too late. Now I think Mukluks are the new Uggs. Anybody agree? I just bought a pair from ebay for $37.00, can't wait to receive them.:)

everyone alawys says they can't understand why i wear uggs (epsecially on the west coast). but, honestly, they are comfortable and great for when you just feel lazy.

as for mukluks being the new uggs, i'm not so sure. they've been around here for a while now (year or so). my mother tried to buy them for me, but i couldn't stand the idea of wearing rabbit fur.

Uggs are great practical boots. That means you wear them as winter boots with pants, not with some "cutesy" denim skirt and other monstrosities.

And on a sidenote, are mukluks those boots with fur trim and fur balls hanging from the laces?
