UK Vogue August 2020 : British Landscapes by Fourteen Different Subjects

What to expect from the issue:

I'm not interested in paying money to see the mundane details of other people's lives in lockdown, as if Covid has forced me into taking a part-time job as a voyeur of people pretending to look happy. PROVIDE THE READER WITH SOMETHING WORTH LOOKING AT which they can't produce themselves.

And if landscapes are the new cover stars, the Vogue cover challenge just got even easier.

I don't understand why there couldn't be beautifully dressed models in those landscape shots, cause this is a fashion magazine after all. There are many British models who could've hopped in a car and gone on location to shoot with a very small crew who could've absolutely respected the government issued protocols. Models could've gotten dressed in their car in previously disinfected clothes for all I know; people used to do much less glamorous things for shoots up until a while ago. It's like no one wants to try anymore, it is tiring.

Anwar Hadid, Ricky Martin? LOL. Scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Anwar is most likely used because he is dating Dua aka one of the biggest popstars in the world and Ricky Martin is still highly successful in Latin America and most importantly an imporant LGBT rolemodel, so showing his family with his husband is an important signal and beautiful message. Very offensive to call that "scraping the bottom of the barrel".

And ofcourse everyone here is hating on the covers or basically everything Edward does. Nothing more predictable than negativity on this website.

Sigh! It's offensive to think that there were other far more worthy English icons to cover, in both respective fields, when we have two full-fledged gay magazines spotlighting LGBTQ+ rolemodels monthly? You're reaching.

The only thing I´m looking forward is the Tim Walker´s cover & feature. I´m sure that he´ll come up with something interesting :bounce:

The rest... I didn´t care about famous people´s quarantine two months ago, I certainly don´t care know.

I must admit Sade is a good get even if it's a low fidelity image.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed with an issue produced by Edward. At least do some fashion illustrations, this is just plain boring.

Covers #4, #5 & #6 of 14 by Mert Alas, Craig McDean & Alastair McLellan:

A literal pavement on the cover of Vogue. COVID-19 is really really separating the talented editors from those who aren't. As of today, Alt is in a world of her own.. alone.

The 3 new covers have good photos, but it looks more of a postcard than a magazine cover.

In my mind, the Dungeness shot is the sun setting over Derek Jarman's old house, although it's probably nothing of the sort.

The sun rises as we angle the lens away from the nuclear power station, pretending all is well.

Hm, I would love to hear about all those English male singers who are raising a family together with their husband, are very open and vocal about this and portray a very positive image. I can only think of Elton...

And what have Additude and Gay Times have to do with this?

An openly gay singer raising a family with his husband isn't, and shouldn't be, the only type who can be considered as a role model for the LGBTQ+ community in Britain. Not when there are so many voices doing extremely tremendous and much-needed work at the grassroots level here. And that's why I brought Attitude and GT into this because they profile these people each and every month without running out of names to the point of seeking out someone like Ricky Martin. Thank God for that at least.

In fact, I take back everything. Yay for Ricky Martin! Maybe it's good that he's in Vogue, that way I won't have to endure him in Attitude or GT.
