UK Vogue August 2020 : British Landscapes by Fourteen Different Subjects

It was only a matter of time until they ran out of content. They could have made a cover with Nick Knight. They already spent the money on the editorial, so why not get a cover out him as well?

I think it’s gonna be another covid garbage
I vaguely remember something about Gaga working with Nick Knight on something that wasn’t the album & he said in one of his YouTube videos it was suppose to be our earlier in the year but we won’t see it till fall, maybe she will be September?

God, I wish! I can't take any more of these... gimmicks.

Better than a kitchen view

The Juergen Teller cover deserves all the shade, but most of the other covers are just sublime! They really do look beautiful on the newsstand - caught my eye much more than Vogue Paris.

So it seems British Vogue expanded this cover concept to include scenery from 10 other countries, but decided to go with a mucky beach for the Dominican Republic..... and they're not happy. The photographer, however, maintains that the idea behind it was to push pollution to the forefront.

Definitely a blunder because the theme of this series was never to highlight pollution in such a blatant way, so it seems odd that 1 out of 29 covers had to represent that.

They've just published more pics in response......

^ aren't those just contest entries and not official covers? I can't see how Vogue is to blame for this entry, but I guess Edward did choose it as one of the best, so some blame can be placed on him.

Yes, they are part of a challenge but that's not an excuse. Vogue obviously selected the winner so they are at fault, almost entirely really.

and they also gave it publicity by posting it in their official IG...

but maybe yeah the purpose is to raise awareness... but really you'll raise environmental awareness in a magazine that's mostly paper and wrapped in a plastic bag?

"Mind-blowingly creative"

Just hold on, let me take a well-cropped picture of something that nature created or someone else designed and slap a Vogue logo over it. MIND BLOWN.

The pollution ones are the only ones with any angle because it's a commentary on where all the products pushed by the magazine end up when they've outlived their usefulness.

People are dragging Edward  over 19,000 comments on that post. Like someone else said in their comments, if you're told to write a romantic novel, why would you write a sci-fi script? :innocent: they f*cked up big time. And now people won't keep they feet off Edward's neck on IG.

And even after his second post that showed the additional shots, lol. The mistake he made was to include the dirty beach pic the 2nd time around instead of scrapping it. That seems to be why they're having a go at him.

Note to self: Never cross a Dominican! Lol.

Edward's very adept at courting headlines and getting coverage for his publication... occasionally it's going to go the opposite way to what was intended.

He'll probably find some way of spinning it round. "I pioneered the fashion industry's first beach litter recycling campaign, in partnership with [insert advertising sponsor here] which has also single-handedly revived and enriched the economic and cultural fortunes of some of those who have been hardest-hit by the situation we have all found ourselves in".
