UK Vogue September 2017 : Kate, Stella, Edie, Jean & Nora by Mario Testino

Not even Kate's "editing" can ruin Raquel/Nick Knight's edit. Raquel looks phenomenal, so sexy and alluring...just love that edit.

It was my fear when I read the review  but I agree, one of the best edits in VUK in a long time :D

thank you god for Nick Knight and Raquel ed. The last good thing Alexandra did as EIC. Now next -_-

Would love HD pics of Nick Knights ed!!!!!

The Raquel's ed is amazing , Kate & Knight made a great work. This the only thing that Alexandra finish her work as EIC, the other stories are bland.

Its almost criminal they didn't make a cover out of the Raquel x Nick Knight edit. Masterful modelling and photography.

We constantly talk about how despite our opinions, Alexandra's Vogue sold. Well, yes it did. But then once again, this September issue is reduced to £2 on newsstands. I haven't seen a month where Vogue was full price in probably 2, 3 years perhaps? I'm sure her Vogue did have great figures, but how much of that was bolstered by the fact it was heavily reduced on newsstands I wonder?

I very much enjoyed my initial flick through this issue. I've criticised this magazine a lot in recent years and I am desperate for something new but I am also quite sad to see the end of an era.

There is a fantastic fold out after the editor's letter with all of Alexandra's covers together in rows and it made me very nostalgic to look through them all. I've only been buying the magazine for 9 or so years but I was shocked by how many memories I have linked to specific issues/years of the magazine; holidays, friendships, time at university etc. Seeing them all next to each other like that was very effocative and I had such distinct visions of particular times in my life, even recalling smells that I associate with certain issues which was very strange but pleasantly surprising; I'd sort of forgotten how much this magazine has meant to me as I've grown from a teenager into adulthood. Even though Vogue UK has its faults I was reminded of why I fell in love with fashion and magazines in the first place.

It's a tremendous treat to see Nick Knight in this magazine again, he's an incredible talent that I wish the magazine had made more of in recent years. I was happy to see Testino get two features as well, although he's not the photographer he once was, he's had an incredible relationship with Alexandra's Vogue and it felt right to have him in their twice. It was also fantastic to see Alasdair McLellan and Glen Luchford inside too, but I would've also loved a fantastical Tim Walker shoot to round things off nicely.

All in all I think it's a solid September issue, the team certainly did a great job of making me appreciate the magazine's past but also really look forward to the future. I imagine the next couple of months will be the typical British Vogue that we are used to, but I'm hoping that come the December issue we are offered a really distinct new vision for this magazine.

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea for mario to shoot an all black, black in white editorial?! This just makes the least of his already diminishing talents.

Run Wild is better than any of Vogue Italia's offerings for this month.

This so endeering! Raquel is the best workind model of these times, and what a team with Nick Knight! This could be the most beautiful editorial from the whole year by far!

I disagree. These portraits are fantastic. It's some of his best work in a while. The model selection isn't the greatest but the photography is good. I can appreciate that.

I actually found this issue to be rather disjointed. All the celebratory features and snippets clashed somewhat against the fashion content which to me looked like business as usual. Would've been better to ditch the AW 2017 trends for once and just give us fashion which encapsulate her tenure. But I must add that I enjoyed it regardless. It seemed more celebratory than the Duchess Catherine special edition, which I found odd. In a warped sense my wish regarding anniversary issues looking more backwards was granted. Just a pity it had to focus on Alexandra's contribution for Vogue.

The fashion content posted do far is actually the weakest content in general from this issue. There's the 1992 flashback with top designers sharing private shots, a Vogue countdown with notable covers and subjects, and a feature showing power women and their initial shots for Vogue (think Natalie Massenett, Nicola Sturgeon, Theresa May etc). Really enjoyed this. They all basically recall how they approached Vogue's choice to cover them and the actual shot.

Regarding the fashion content, I honestly flipped right past it! Other than the Nick Knight edit, nothing else interested me. Must say that I'm pleasantly surprised with Kate Moss' styling here.

And for anyone wondering why the magazine dragged their heels with diversity? Just look at the picture of the staff. All white, 35+, with the odd guy here and there (I recall counting 3). And the women all look like the ones constantly shown in this magazine.

Although I personally believe the lack of diversity came down from the person at the top - because you can come from a certain background yet still be a strong champion for faces different to the one you see in the mirror.
