US Elle September 2015 : Keira Knightley by Paola Kudacki

The Keira ed is so weird. I haven't seen her being "femme fatale" since her US VOGUE cover from 2008. It's almost a photoshop disaster.

The designer ed is so...boring. I LOVE the Lanvin team. The Dries pic is cute. I really love Dolce & Gabbana but after their comments, seeing them with kids is slightly disturbing.

Jason Wu, REALLY?? I'm done with him and his weird poses with top models.

The rest of the mag? quite boring. Too bad they didn't invited Gilles Bensimon for this issue or even Joe Zee.

It's an anniversary issue and there are only 3 fashion eds? I flipped through the PDF and it's so poor for a supposedly landmark issue.

Yikes, literally no Asian muse, and only one black one amongst, what 25, other girls?? Bear in mind these were probably the designer's selection, and not the magazine's. No wonder this under-representation in fashion is so rife! Anyway, that feature is a huge let-down. The Dior one looks the weirdest because of all those smiles, especially from people known for their grumpiness. The Dolce one looks very ironic, but Jason Wu's shot with Stephanie has got to be one of the most awkward shots I've seen. He looks like a boy!

Luckily the magazine redeemed themselves somewhat with 'This is 30'.

Thanks for all the effort, Zorka!!

I don't know why someone doesn't tell Keira to stop doing that off-putting pout/ ducklips thing that she does. She really is a beautiful woman with the most sharp bone structure that's ideal for high fashion photography, but she can't model to save her life when left to lesser talents; it's all so cartoony.

That Dolce portrait with a lesbian couple and their children as their "muse" is such a transparent attempt at damage-control. They're such a joke to me now when once, back in the 90s, their design and campaigns were so inspiring. Maybe they've always been full of stupid beliefs, but we just never heard about it until the age of Social Media, and then all these rich and famous people just busted themselves for being as stupid and uninformed as ghetto trash.

The only saving grace in this issue is seeing that beyond-beautiful model in the Road to Marrakech edit. Not for the edit-- nothing special about it, but the model is a stunning drop-dead lookalike for a young Neneh Cherry.

Cindy Bruna is stuuuunnning in that Road to Marrakech edit. That face! Man, I don't know why she isn't a bigger deal right now.

The designers and their muses editorial is atrocious. Literally every shot is unflattering. There aren't even words to describe the Jason/Stephanie pic.

I actually adore Keira and I think that she often delivers breathtaking photos. These are hit or miss, but in general I think the editorial is pretty great. I love the intense vibrancy of it. She definitely is a bit samey with the face she's serving, but the face is gorgeous, so I'll forgive her.

^^^ I actually love love love that Stephanie/ Jason shot because it's so hilariously awkward, horrifying and unintentioanlly-comical. It's just such a WTF-image I don't know whether I'm repulsed, amused, or bemused... it's awesome in that sense. Jason's face resembles a terrified 10-year-old boy who Stephanie's got in a headlock-- between her legs LOL

Vacant Kendall and douchey Cara gets all the admiration, while someone like Cindy Bruna (thank you for placing the face with the name) is more or less left on the wayside. No one ever said the fashion and modeling world is remotely fair.

US Vogue also is doing a large portfolio, but they had the good sense to use different photographers and stylists. Elle's is so boring...gray...white...gray...white...gray...
