US Vogue April 2008 : Gisele Bündchen & LeBron James by Annie Leibovitz

I don't see what's so terrible about the cover. It's disappointing but certainly not the worst cover. Haven't we been complaining forever about the lack of models on the cover of fashion magazines? True, Gisele could have done alot better but this is obviously what Anna wanted. It's something different, not the dead pan stare of Kate Bosworth and Drew Barrymore, but an energetic cover which I think is acceptable since spring is really close.

I've also learned you can't judge US Vogue by it's cover.

The US doesn't categorize Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, etc. correctly as Hispanics so here they are considered Latino...Latinas/Latinos in every other country in the world means...people from Latin descent...which would include...Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, French, etc. & Penelope Cruz is indeed Spanish from Spain!

In the UK, we must follow the US, as latino/a is used to describe someone living in the US and of Southern American descent. I don't ever see it used to apply to a European. They would sometimes be described as 'Latin' as in having 'a Latin temperament' but never 'latino'.

This has just made me wonder, as an aside, do mainland Europeans learn Latin as standard in school/college, I spent years having to learn Latin language, history and culture at school.

What I dislike most about this cover is that they're gonna blame poor sales on the fact that it's a model cover as oppose to it just not being an appealing cover to begin with. fierce Gissy cover would definatley move units but I'm not so sure bout this one. They used her as a purse.

indeed the editorials look promising :woot: can't wait for the scans :woot:

Daria looks awesome in Balenciaga :ninja:
she looks awesome in anything

To clarify: my "King Kong" comments had NOTHING to do with race. I was responding to the manic energy and the poses. The only time I mentioned LeBron's race was to applaud the fact that he's the first black man on Vogue. I suppose I could have chosen to ignore that fact, but why not celebrate it? :flower:

Meanwhile... why oh why didn't they choose that second photo of Gisele and LeBron? :(

i love the SPORTS theme!!!!!! you prove your talent to this world again, Anna.. BRAVO!!!!!:bounce:

Those previews are so promising! There goes Doutzen in "that Miu Miu dress" again, though

I kind of love that Doutzen has her hand on Apollo's a$$ like it's a side table.

The editorial stuff is pretty new by Vogue standards, so that's a plus.

It is an interesting cover (Lebron reminds me of the Hulk), but I do like that sports editorial concept. I want to see it in it's entirety already!

If I were Francisco Costa,I'd be so pissed right now :innocent:

Well, it's his creation on the cover so I think he'll sorta like it

I loved that they paired Caroline and Michael Phelps together! Two of my favorite people!

oohhh these editorials are really really good!!! Annie Leibovitz shot all of them?

This is a good issue editorial-wise, the Daria one especially looks stunning :woot:

I'm just going to rip off the cover when I buy it  :innocent:
