US Vogue December 2008 : Jennifer Aniston by Craig McDean

I know every December they do an editorial inspired by a film. Can somebody recap what ones have been done in what issue?

this is what I know:

2003: Alice in Wonderland by Leibowitz with Natalia V.
2004: the special holiday ed was not inspired by a movie/fairytale etc. It was Daria shot by Demarchelier on a tropical island, the residence of make up artist Francois Nars.
2005: The Wizard of Oz by Leibowitz with Keira Knightley.
2006: The special holiday ed was not inspired by a movie/fairytale etc. It was an ed inspired with cloting inspired by flowers shot by Meisel, with Sasha, Karen, Caroline and Gemma.
2007: The special holiday ed was not inspired by a movie/fairytale etc. It was Daria shot by Testino with a famous painter.

sans artifice is luxx's blog ... so basically ....

i may sound fashion conservative bu i love the styling for mcneil's ed .... she looks gorgeous and chic chic chic on every page .... love the choices especially when she wears colours ! fresh !

Love a lifetime by A.Leibovitz and G. Coddington
models : Coco and Roberto Bolle

just love Roberto's michelangelesque bottom ....

aw :( for some reason I wasn't expecting them to take the theme so literal. (which is silly since they did with movie themes of the past) but it's still a beautiful ed. a bit dark.

I always like these studio edits by Sims w/Raquel. I don't care if they look the same month after month... this is a formula that works. The focus is on the clothes & accessories... the styling is wonderful as always... and Raquel looks beautiful.

Thank you for scanning Luxx

but don't you ever get bored of it?

i gotten so tired of these eds, that i've forgotten how good they actually are. my appreciation for them is gone. it's like eating oatmeal every day. if us vogue just stop doing these eds for at least half a year, and do something different, they could then bring these sims, jumping girl eds back and everyone would love them again. or at least like them.

The edit with Coco was everything I wanted and more. The last shot is amazine, like a painting! The styling is impeccebly done, well thought out and really relates to the time period. I could so see some of those gowns on the red carpet. Thank you a much Luxx for scanning, I'm sure everyone knew how much I wanted to see that ed!

Coco's ed is beautiful...so dreamy!
I agree nyc art style, it's too much to have practically the same ed in every issue! Sure, Raquel works it, but it's still boring, would a little change hurt that much?

I think this is really the best Klein shot to be published in Vogue in AGES. I wish it were a full editorial.

Ice Age
Ph. Steven Klein
Fashion Editor: Phylis Posnick
Model: Oluchi Orlandi
Oh God, this sounds like an interesting read. Laying in below zero degrees for flawless skin? Sounds so stupid...and momentary.

As for the photo, Oluchi hasnt aged...B) Still lovely. And yes, the photo leads more to the imagination. There should have been at least two other pics. This is like, "Where is this going?" A photo of her laying down would have been cohesive.

Going back to some of the earlier discussions...

I think "uncool" is quite appropriate. I think it was uncool.

AND, is it just me that likes the cover? I think it's really nice...

Is Francesco Clemente an established artist, and just now getting the fame the deserves?
And the cyrotherapy article sounds like a good read!

Hmmm....I was really looking forward to the Romeo and Juliet editorial, but it's not that special, in my opinion.
imo, it's pretty weak actually. the only thing that draws my attention is roberto's bottom... it looks like it was carved from marzipan :rofl:

The issue is very good.

McNeil/Testino's ed is more great than I expected, the colours and styling is impeccable
I like Coco's ed, but I expected it to be a bit better (it can't touch Natalia or maybe even Keira's one...I can't decide yet ) But the last shot is so beautiful...:woot:
Even Raquel's styling is good, even though the theme is so cliche

And great to see Lakishmi profiled, I think I must get this issue when I get home in a few weeks :)

There are a couple more bits in this issue that need scanning, like Natalia's pictures and so on so forth. I'll finish it up tonight.

Thanks, I'd love to see my darling Natalia (aka Leibovitz's only model muse :D). Thanks for all your work Luxx, your scans are always top-notch :flower:
