US Vogue March 2014 : Rihanna by David Sims

I simply dont understand why her again! And the final product is just lackluster. They could have used her better.

It's an okay cover, but I have the feeling i've just seen her on the cover... Surely her last cover must've sold well.

The content ought to be good, can't wait to see it. Hopefully McDean has an ed.

Isn't this shot by Testino? I don't mind seeing Rihanna again but the cover doesn't appeal to me that much. The LV outfit especially the jeans isn't exactly a bold statement.

On another note, I'm interested in what they have to say about runway diversity.

Actually it really didnt, it was on of the worst sellers of the year with only 227,000 copies sold (according to WWD), which was way less then the previous years issue. But same thing happened with Anne Hathaway who had the worst selling issues every time she was on the cover, yet she been on three. Its no wonder they say its Wintour's magazine, because she doesn't care, if she likes you that much, you will get countless of opportunities, just ask Paltrow who hasn't always sold well either.

Its just soo uninspired when it comes to covers, i will say the ed is wonderful because the styling is paying homage to her personal style, and we dont see that alot with their cover stars, who they usually transform into grand fake personalities.

Interesting that of all the images from the shoot they went with that one for the cover. I see several really beautiful portraits inside the editorial that would be great for a cover - love that shot of her in the lips covered dress with the red lipstick - lovely.

I love the cover, and I am glad the editorial is more like an editorial they would use with a model. Shes photogenic and I love the different looks on her. I wish Mert & Marcus shot this though, its missing a certain glow

That is indeed a lovely picture and would make for a great cover, but it slightly resembles Lena's February cover outfit, so I see why they didn't choose it for the March cover.

That's why I don't buy the party line of "models don't sell covers!" Neither do lots of celebs yet here we are. It's all about wintour's favorites and Hollywood pr machine.

Was this shot by David Sims?
Not really that fond of the cover, but it's not the worst one ever. Just tired of this grey background/red text formula they seem to be stuck on for the March covers. I found Rihanna's two previous Vogue covers absolutely stunning, so I'm a little disapointed with this one. Interested to see if the two cover rumour is true; wasn't Kate Upton supposed to be on the other?
Anyway, interested to see the contents, I like the look of Ri's editorial!

Shame that she is never really styled in gowns and couture. Vogue of all magazines missed that opportunity - she has a great "goddess" type body for it.

:rolleyes:Maybe you'll like her Vogue Italia 2009 September Haute Couture Supplyment by Steven Klein.

why her again? her life is really not that interesting, nor is her style....

I like Rihanna, but I can't handle with this magazine anymore.

I feel as though Rihanna wearing jeans and a sweater resembles the cover from November 1988 with Michaela Bercu - I love it.

My only complaint about this third appearance is that it could be her seventh. :zorro::heart:
Same here. :meow:

My first reaction when I read the thread title was turning to my sister "oh no we'll have to buy US Vogue in march" (the price is kind of ridiculous here). If there's one singer who still makes fashion exciting nowadays, it's Rihanna. On stage and on the streets. After the Diamonds world tour, this is just more than deserved.

Although not a fan of her "artistic" output(if you can call it that)i agree with you. She's very photogenic and, more often than not,she wears clothes wondrefully, attributes prominent both on the cover and the editorial.BTW,is she having an album out or anything?

I hadnt thought of it till someone mentioned but Lupita would have been awesome on the cover.Riri looks good in the ed but its somewhat monotonous

i feel like vogue is good at catching the right actresses right before big films come out, but they don't do the same thing with music stars. this cover should've been aligned with rih winning the icon award at billboard. and beyonce's cover should be coming soon, like someone else said in this thread. i love the spread and cover though, it seems more relevant and young. we need more music stars on our fashion glossies so im fully supporting this.

The editorial looks fresh but the cover is a mess, I mean how can anyone find this attractive? Her facial expression is funny at best and the pose is awful and the layout and clothing make it all look very cheap. Not impressed. A 3rd cover isn't so bad I think but I wish they would have done it better.
