US Vogue May 2007 World's Next Top Models by Steven Meisel

Beautiful, as well as sexually stimulating.

Sepia is one of those who think Supermodel and Top Model is the same thing.

I certainly am not. In fact, we were in a thread a few weeks ago agreeing that the current models are not, in fact, supermodels. Short memory!

And you represent the entire world-population of heterosexual men, right?

I'm gunna have to agree with whoever said Kate Moss is not a sex symbol. I have never once met a guy in my life who found Kate Moss "sexy."

^^ Me neither. I'm sure someone does around the world though.
Someone in this thread said she looked like a monkey earlier. I think it was deleted. That's being flagrant, IMO, and it also has racial undertones.
Well, that's just mean and unfair, but the rest of us don't say things like that.

Personally, I'm starting to think this thread is going to become an epic one, lasting for months and months--the issue is out and scans have been posted, yet the debate continues on

from wikipedia:
Kate Moss was voted 8th in Celebrity Sleuths 25 Sexiest Women of 2004, 8th in Maxims 50 Sexiest Women of 1999 and 22nd in FHM 100 Sexiest Women of 1995. Mens magazine Arena named her as their Sexiest Woman in their 150th issue.

essentially i think that the article wasn't well written at all. many theories and arguments just don't tie.

Have you tried searching at your local Barnes & Noble? I couldn't find the magazine at a few stores, but I finally spotted it at B&N yesterday.
It wasn't there when I checked last Thursday. I'll check again tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion. :flower:

 :judge: I know! Well, the whole subject of "models" and "supermodels" gets us all worked up and talkative...

Just watched that little segment they had on the Today show and like many others I'm kinda disappointed. I love that they sent Coco and Chanel out together, they looked gorgeous :crush:
Hilary and Caroline looked at their best too . Stam and Patricia looked like they were there to show themselves off rather than the clothes they were wearing

i don't care whether guys find Kate Moss sexy or not, she's a style icon, not pamela anderson!

I know absolutely nothing of Chanel, so I welcome that this cover introduces her to me. From that viewpoint, I attribute any 'negativity' I read about her as being people's bewilderment that a relative unknown can be included in this group shot of models - models who have 'proven' themselves via repeated work for US Vogue. Chanel's time is still to come, and I look forward to seeing what she's capable of, but I think people are entitled to ask "why highlight her?" when there are so many other up-and-coming faces to focus on.

Perhaps in a year's time, when she's been on 'Trentini rotation' in nearly every issue, we'll look back and see what the magazine was saying by including her on this cover. We just don't know what Vogue has planned for Chanel, we'll have to wait and see.

Overall, for me, this cover is Vogue's statement about the girls they're fond of using in the magazine, rather than a statement about all models in general. That's why I don't mind that 'so-and-so' isn't included. It's a 'class of 07' portrait of the people who work for Vogue. It'll be different again next year.

^What's your source for those pictures? (I'm 99% sure they were posted before, by the way :flower:)

There's been a lot of argument in this thread about TOP models vs SUPER models. I do get the distinction. But please keep in mind: Gisele's name is practically a household word, known to both school kids and grandmas. And Gisele earned 17.5 million dollars last year - the highest paid model world. Outside of the insular world of Fashion, who kowns who Gemma is (or Sasha or Jessica or Inguna or Natasha or .... take your pick!)? And what kind of money did they make? Whatever it was, I'm sure they'd love to push it up into the Gisele range. And lets get real. They all aspire to be another Gisele! They're not like some tremendously talented jazz or classical musicians - in it for the art and wanting to avoiding the mass mob media generated appeal of a rock star. And how long can they expect to model: 10 years, at best? At least the SUPERS, with name appeal, could maybe parley their modelling careers into 2nd or 3rd rate acting careers. What can a TOP hope for?
P.S.: I'm really & truly glad they put models on the cover - for a change. I'm sure we won't be seeing any models on the cover of US VOGUE (or ELLE, or BAZAAR or GLAMOUR or COSMO, etc.) for another year. It'll just be 12 more months of Angelina, Reese, Gwyneth, Renee...all the usual suspects.

I like the cover a lot. I like the layout. Most of the models are at the top in respect to high fashion. (As of Chanel I don't know?) I could have put few more from my choices as top models to be on that cover. And who knows who could or will be the next supermodel after Gisele....oh well, however I like most of the girls on the cover.
