US Vogue October 2003 : Gwyneth Paltrow by Mario Testino

philosphy is a good subject, astrid...

but i have to learn to not read star's views on their work.

my art history degree and lit degree get in the way too much... and i just get so mad.

although, i still say that the cover is stunning.

Same here. B) I hate listening to actors talk about their "craft".

they take is soooo seriously too... as though they are teaching the world about "human nature" and all that crap. i love when they talk about their work on inside the actor's studio... that is such a laugh.

all actor's teach me is how i don't want to dress. :)

she looks like Joni Mitchell in that picture - now I suddenly know why I like Gwyneth Paltrow so much :)

me too, lele :flower:
i liked Gwyneth when she was still virtually unknown & played small parts (Ms. Parker & Vicious Circle, Flesh & Bone, Hook). She's very talented & can be exceptional with the right director & in the right script. I like her not only because of her style or looks, but because she tries to balance commercial films with less main stream movies. Of course, she had her share of flops (Bounce,
Possession), but that's OK. At least she does not do the same kind of films all the time, like
Cami Diaz or Julia Roberts (although both are talented & beautiful). Remeber her in Emma or Shakspeare in Love, Royal Tenenbaums or Talented Mr. Ripley, she's so different in all these films and yet she's still Gwyneth Paltrow. And these parts were not easy, as playing Sylvia is not easy at all.
I don't agree that all girls in high school read Bell Jar, it's not like Great Gatsby or Mrs. Dalloway. Sylvia Plath was more of an "elite" poet & writer, so to speak.
Can't wait for October issue!
