Valentine's Day Gifts?

JohnnyKenton-- is that you in your avatar? Because I could not imagine that you would be single.

So the restaurant I was making my plans at is already booked. So now I have to come up with a plan B.

I just did a picture frame/collage thing and my roommate bought a blanket and is screenprinting/ironing on things to it. lol

seeing i don't have a s/o this year, i think i'll buy myself something (after all, as oscar wilde said - to love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance)

That's awesome!! :heart::heart::heart::heart: the quote & hope it's a nice big gift!!!

Hmmm... I'm giving him an Arsenal jersey. He really love's his football team, and I was in Dubai, so I was scouring all the malls for a Nike shop that had these jerseys. So I think he'll be ecstatic. Although, he kept hinting for gadgets... oh well, there's always his birthday in 3 months.

i think something booze related is always a winner for men. either that or one of the james bond dvd box sets that came out a few months ago.

Nordstrom's homepage will take you straight to a selection of gift ideas, most of them awful. (I'm talking Juicy Couture and DSquared galore, both for men and women.) My best advice would be not to buy anything from there, though it is endlessly amusing to browse. The men's selection is less diverse and slightly worse than the women's, so if you want optimum amusement, go directly there...

dick in a box

I was once advised that myself head-to-foot in ribbon was the preferred gift. I opted for chocolates.

I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years now...so I ran out of ideas...i've baked cakes, bought the typical gifts like wallet, cologne (buying one i know for sure he likes..cos scents are so personal and subjective), car stuff, electronics, clothes etc....

this year I don't have much time to shop/celebrate...I have school all day and night on Valentine's day...but I managed to buy a nice, subtle yet stylish Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons MAN dress shirt since my bf loves anything Japanese. We're both middle class students...so we can't usually afford to dress head to toe designer...so that shirt was special...and it was on sale

It's getting close to Valentine's Day, so it's time to resurrect this thread...so what is everyone getting their significant other this year?

Although I personally tend to think that the holiday is a little overrated (have you ever tried to get dinner reservations on February 14th? It's tough if you want to go somewhere nice and don't plan a month in advance), but thoughtful presents are always good. I'm also a fan of "experience" type gifts - tickets to a concert or sporting event, a night in a fabulous luxe hotel room, or something like that - a way you can make happy memories together (yes, that sentence was cheesy as all hell , but I can't really think of a better way to put).

Of course, there are the obvious things like mix CDs and cologne/perfume, and the classics like flowers, chocolate, and lingerie too.

i'm just sending my husband a card... he'll be out of town on v-day and so i thought it would be a nice surprise at the hotel.

also every year we pick out a box of really decadent chocolates to share

Some more ideas - instead of making a mixtape or CD, how about buying and creating an iTunes playlist of romantic or otherwise meaningful songs? You could even get your significant other an ipod or something (perhaps one of the pink ones - http://arstechnica.com/journals/app...nano-debuts-for-spring-valentines-pink-lovers) and load it with the songs.

3Luxe's gift guide is good as well, especially for those of you who want to splurge:

Sort of related - am the only girl who doesn't really care to get flowers? Of course I think they are beautiful, but they don't last - if I am going to get a perishable gift, some kind of decadent meal or a great bottle of wine that we can share seems like a better idea.

hahaha im buying a pint of ice cream and a bottle of cheap wine!! because my valentine is MEEEE
