Cherchez la femme. Alessandra Facchinetti did just that at Valentino, taking an ultra-feminine approach for the house's resort collection with looks like this flounced evening gown.

OMG. I love this so much better than her Pre-Fall work. That red dress is gorgeous and I don't even like the color red! :woot: Also the first skirt and the suit/dress/coat thing.:heart:

It all looks very polite and 'put together', but it lacks distinction and grandeur to me.

Valentino designs usually appear to me as being of a certain strong guesture, that is certainly missing in here. As much as I liked Facchinetti when she took on Tom Ford's position at Gucci, but I think at Valentino, someone like Giambattista Valli would have suited the house's aesthetic a lot better.

I hope to see her confidence grow, because that's what the work she's done so far is really lacking. When she starts to break free from the Valentino-isms is when she'll start to shine. She doesn't have to do "Valentino" to do Valentino....if that makes any sense.

really adore these draping/ruching effects :crush: it has an interesting irregular flow

The colors are too mute, the whole collection to unnoticeably pretty.

its OK but very pilati , (whom im not a fan of ) ,

her clothes are very puritanical , they lack the sexiness and glamour of valentino

It's so adorable, and finally Valentino doesn't look like a relic of the past! A modern take on the Valentino ruffles is just what the House needs.

The full length, brown dress really is stunning. For a resort collection, i think this is great.

I like it.
But there not this "woooooooooooow"-effect that valentino collection usually have.

I find that Alessandra is building her own aesthetic at Valentino - none of this really reminds me of his work. Hers is a much more understated interpretation of the house - Valentino for all his legend could sometimes be a little bit over the top. This is all very restrained and delicate - almost conservative in some ways.

I love it though - I think she has created a sort of modest elegance that is very modern. The clothes never scream - they whisper. I have been loving each collection she does more and more - this gets me quite excited for Spring.
