Valentino Pre-Fall 2008

I like what I've seen so far..I like it a lot!!
The coat in particular is brilliant.
I don't understand why everyone expects to see copies of the previous designer's work everytime a new designer steps in.I know we're taking about THE Valentino here but these two designs for prefall are better than a lot of his imo

how on earth could you tell by these two small photos that it is or isn't valentino? give the girl a break!

:rofl::rofl:

FYI, I really like these first two photos. The first coat is so weirdly shaped, love the silhouette. The model looks FIERCE, work.

im really not sure if i like it yet
the first coat is incredible... though

Fachinetti was approached by the company not the other way round and for good reason: her work for Moncler was exceptionally crafted and rich in a very Valentino way.
Her approach is very womanly in the intricacy and detail (something male designers often have trouble with) and her sense of colour is not dull as some people say but refined and discreet. Nuance of colour is very important to an Italian, and she has already proven her expertise in that area. Note: Versace for one has improved since cutting back on the 80's cartoon colours.
She would have been damned if she did and damned if she didn't so I'm not surprised at some of the vitriol mentioned here. What kind of designer would walk in and not bring something NEW to the existing situation. THAT IS WHY PEOPLE HIRE DESIGNERS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
The fact that Mr. Garavani hasn't spoken or met her has more to do with his own lemon puckered queeniness and overblown egocentricity than anything else. Something that can only happen in fashion.

I love it.......I believe she can bring Valentino to a next level.
Something new....I love the grey coat.
Looking forward to her couture show

is style.com being weird for anyone else ? They have the images up but I can't access them for some reason.

i don't know why y'all hate.

1, it's PRE-FALL!!! which means, VERY BASIC! I never expect glitters, rainbows and revolutions from either Cruise or Pre-Fall.

2, Facchinetti is good at continueing on with ideas of previous designers. As we have seen wih Tom Ford and Gucci (why they decided to ditch her and give Frida the job is beyond me.....). If I would have to worry, it'd be if she can help Valentino to further evolve while staying true to the roots. I bet her F/W 08 collection will show a collection worthy of being called "Valentino".

I, for one, really like the grey coat. It's clean, understated and looks fresh.

To be quite honest, I really like this. It is indeed really fresh for Valentino (although I feel a little Pilati/YSL for some reason). My favorite look of this is definitely the first gown in n°54. I love the sleeves and it is even more sexy since it is in black. Really good for a first try here! ^_^

Wow, actually the collection is quite refine, quiet and discreet...! Except for a few awkward pieces..

I really like that too ^_^ I'm very curious how will Alessandra's first show look like!

I like it,very elegant but not "tacky" elegant

i like this a lot! very wearable, and very beautiful! she really did a great job here
