Vanity Fair July 2009 : Johnny Depp by François-Marie Banier

I really don't like the blue background clash with the red font like the Simpson cover last month. Maybe that's why this cover is not my favourite. Although Johnny:woot:

i just read on wikipedia that he's going to be part of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland that's to be released in 2010 :woot: i wonder there's anything inside about this :buzz:

yeah he'll be the mad hatter, i think there probably will be something about it...
i could make a long list of complaints about how disappointing it is when a big magazine choose someone who is incredibly good looking (to say the least) and make a bad cover (this is when kate moss's august vogue cover comes to mind). but i won't. i'm too anxious to see the contents. and to find out how much VF costs here.

^ He is like a 45 year old guy: what do you guys expect really???

21 Jump Street Johnny? He looks terrific for his age... still.

Terrible cover. He looks about 70.

What on earth, 70?!

I really like the cover, it's nice to see a talented actor on this cover for once. ^_^ Johnny is a lovely choice, I hope that there is something inside about him. :woot:

true.
i'm dying of curiosity to see what they mean by "uncensored, unscripted, unleashed". everytime after i read this cover line the word "undressed" pops up in my mind.

he's hot! But he looks really old in that photo. Not a good cover, sadly:cry:

I quite like the angle of the shot and the close-up. But it makes him look older than he actually is.
Not the most flattering photo I have seen of him.

This is a really nice cover and Johnny looks great.

I don't like the bright blue background. I mean, I applaud VF for doing a summery covery, but it contrasts negatively with Johnny's skin color, which is just gorgeous.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I can't wait to see what Nancy Reagan says about the Obamas.

^ yeah. The bright blue throws me off too. It recalls the tackiness of the Jessica Simpson cover. So does the weird angle of the shot. I dunno... I was so eager to see Johnny on the cover because I assumed he could never look bad in a photo, but this cover sure proves me wrong.

i will never understand why people think he is so good looking & these pictures kind of prove that for me. :p
his face is very..um..bland and he's very naked faced, if you know what i mean..just no character at all in it. nice eyes, nose and lips, but together it's sooooo meh.

for me, he always makes his roles alive & breathing, and that's the most important. But he looks good too. I like blue background, it is so summer.
