Vanity Fair March 2019 : The Hollywood Issue by Emmanuel Lubezki

I have never heard of most of the people here (my fault, not theirs), and can't help but feel this was a bit forced. As if VF was like, here you go, diversity advocates, you can't boo to us this time.

No. All of the POC on the cover actually had a banner year. So unlike some Hollywood Issues by VF in the past, the move is definitely not a forced one.

No Gaga here, weird! It's a nice cover, a thousand times better than this:

Sorry, I mean this:

Quite a smart move to hire a cinematographer instead of a photographer.
I understand it is a Hollywood issue, but I wish other magazines would follow.

Both still and moving image of Elizabeth are hauntingly beautiful.
The moving cover is a little dull. They could have done something exciting since it is a video.

I think this might be my favorite lineup for a Vanity Fair Hollywood issue ever, chiefly because they didn't go for the easiest A-list options. This is a great mix of young stars who've are excelling consistently, 2018 breakthroughs who were previously (relatively) unknown, and a few stars over 30 who've put in great work for a long time and are getting the buzz/acclaim they deserve recently. Several received Oscar nominations and/or starred in nominated films, which I feel certainly proves their relevance, and several will no doubt be in some of 2019's biggest/most awards-friendly releases. It also may be the most diverse lineup they've had, age aside. My only complaint is that a few of them look somewhat bored.

Also, I can't wait to read Angelica Houston's Proust Questionnaire!

Making Pictures

One small little pic for Henry but the others got three shots on a double page!!!??!! The injustice. Hope his agent made them know that this is NOT cool.
