Flicking through the digital version of UK Vanity Fair, it's 140 pages, there doesn't seem to be any supplement this month, the cover shot I'm seeing is the 'standing up in pink' one, there's 6 pages of Dior and Chanel campaigns, then it's straight into jewellery ones. The On Time watch supplement is advertised as coming with the next issue, out September 16th, which will be the Film and TV issue.
There's a weird page flow where the editor's note straddles pages 20 to 22, but page 21 is an article... VF content interrupting VF content. Even at the front of the issue, a lot of the ads are 'house ads' i.e. ads for Conde Nast products.
There's an interview with Rachel Maddow (pictured fly-fishing), then an piece about the correspondence between Joan Didion and Eve Babitz, written by Lili Anolik, the person who did Babitz's biography/hagiography. Having read that, this piece is a nice supplement, but if you've never encountered the cult of Eve Babitz, you'll be looking at this article and wondering who is this and what the hell is going on?
This is followed by a piece about celebrity restaurant, Carbone, which starts off with a mention of Formula 1, as if the issue is one big sponsored tie-in. Plus there's an article about people plotting to thieve Bitcoin, and a look at what The Wing founder, Audrey Gelman, is doing now ('creating a new narrative'), a profile of Eve Jobs (as seen above minus the text), and what's going on with a piece of coveted LA real estate ever since its most recent owner, the Herbalife founder, died of an overdose. The Proust Questionnaire is Alfre Woodard.
Unashamedly elitist content about a range of topics i.e. a diverting read, but hardly any ads.
