Vetements F/W 2018.19 Paris

as someone who likes VETEMENTS, to me, this was a total mess. I liked their memes and slogans but now it's boring and unoriginal. " I'm not deaf I'm ignoring you " - sounds like it was taken from a bad H&M t shirt. Take a step back with the Zurich tourist VETEMENTS pieces. The shoes are stupid, you don't mate a Triple S and another Triple S together and make that monster of a shoe.

I don't particularly like anything from Balenciaga as well except for the The Power of Dreams slogan stuff. The Bernie Sanders design was good but then it's getting overplayed. This is what I liked about Demna's parodying. Totally random. The DHL thing was genius and now Honda's slogan. Give me more of this!

It feels like since he's started at Balenciaga that he's been spread a bit thinly (which in comparison I think Anthony Vaccarello did the right thing in closing his brand down to focus solely on Saint Laurent). He has introduced his aesthetic to an established house that at first recognised him for his radical take on luxury but now he has two outlets for this mess that has lost all sense of originality that only the fashion crowd are still hyping up.

I think he's running out of ideas fast and the clock is almost up on his sense of 'style', if you can even call it that. One aspect of the brand I have never got is his pricing strategy on collaborations he's done with brands like Levis or Rebok, charging over £1100 for a pair of jeans made by Levis, when a pair of Chanel jeans cost in the region of £800 I know which I'd rather invest in. His fastest selling piece are the socks (so I'm told).

It is hard in todays climate to be original and I get that but when he's basically ripping off, or shall we say, doing a parody of other brands work and reselling it as his own. He may as well just sell his product on eBay and call it 'authentic'.

This baffles me as well. Why would anyone pay $2,000 for an Alpha Industries bomber? Just for the Vetements tag on the sleeve zip? Almost all of their stuff was 50 and 60% off on net-a-porter etc. Their hype is definitely slowing down.

This is like if you went to every small-town, Sunday afternoon flea market and bought the most hideous pieces of old, tattered clothing you could find, AND THEN PUT THEM ALL ON AT ONCE.

Nope.

could not have said it better...

Vetements seems very "last season" now. Thank god they have Balenciaga because this is hopeless.
Agree 100% ! Baleciaga is better and not so overpriced, sincerely, i startet to like some items from Demna's Balenciaga.

Well said @ghostwriter10549 :" If there is no hype, the is no Vetements" and seems that the hype for Vetements started to finish or maybe is died yet.

I see the babushka look is still in.
Not only Vetements offers a Babushka look .

People now only notice Balenciaga. I feel like the craze around Vêtements is less important among the people working in the fashion industry.

Am I the only one who thinks the same? Would Vêtements still be among the fav collections if it didn't change his presentation during Mens fashion week ?

You can create hype but you can't maintain momentum. That's a difference between good and average designer.
