Very true. Always a good idea to keep that in mind with period pieces and even different modern trends.

Question: I myself use "Victorian" and "Edwardian" interchangeably, but does anyone know the difference between the two?

BTW, this is another perinnial fave of mine.

^ dreamecho, victorian and edwardian are just references to the period:

queen victoria 1837 - 1902
king edward VII 1901 - 1910

hence the names. stylistic variations are extremely broad, as it's a pretty large time period from 1837 to 1910.

Victorian seems coming back strong for SS 07 ... McQueen did it to perfection!


EDIT: But the prize goes to Chalayan who did a victorian dress who turned into a chic small 20's dress!

^ Thanks for bumping this thread ultramarine. A successive Victorian spring would be fantastic! I'm still very into Victoriana, maybe moreso than before, as my interest has broadened to actual relics. And although I eschew a lot of vintage styles from the '70s, there are some nice Victorianesque ones I've managed to find. Such as the floor-length burgundy dress I acquired, with a matching capelet, from when the style last experienced a surge in popularity...
