Gauri Khan, Vogue's cover girl

18first.jpg

Shah Rukh Khan has every reason to preen. No, it doesn't have anything to do with his six packs. Rather, it's his wife Gauri Khan who is the center of attention.
The mother of two has been chosen as the cover girl of Vogue India for its January edition.
The pictures were shot against the eight-floor extension of the Khans' sprawling home, Mannat.
'This is not my profession,' Gauri said. 'It has to be something really new and unusual to make me want to do something like this. I did enjoy the shoot but to be honest, I wouldn't do it very often."
"This collaboration between Gauri and Vogue India is a natural fit," says Priya Tanna, Editor Vogue India. "It is her first solo cover and a coup of sorts for Vogue. That she is stylish, enigmatic, and poised is known, but at the shoot we saw another side of her, that of a cover girl. Even in the frames she shares with Shah Rukh, she holds her own impressively. She offers delightful peeks into her life, her wardrobe and her man. Gauri is a true Voguette."
The issue will hit newsstands on December 20.

Turning into the direction of a simple cover with a white backdrop... I see.
I'm not sure how I feel about it, but the red is great.

She looks like Monica Belluci a little there, which she certainly doesn't in real life. There's a lot of photoshop there. A LOT. I love Bollywood even though I'm not Indian or Asian. I'm really shocked Aishwarya Rai still hasn't had a Vogue cover. In the west she is THE female face of Indian Cinema.

elle india is the same, maybe that's what sells?

There are so many beautiful young women in India, and they put a socialite on the front cover!

I don't like it. The cover looks different compared to the other Vogue India covers.

I am really in love with Bollywood as well!
and I think that Aishwarya deserves a cover, she's GORGEOUS!

This paticular cover is alright kind of too plain for me and not in a pretty simplistic way... in more of a boring way... but that could just be me!

This cover is soo ELLE,but i think she is beautiful so it dosent look that bad.

It's like Vogue China/Elle. Boring.

 Well, our culture thrives on simplicity

But with that said, I am surprised at Vogue India going in this direction...extravagance always seems integral to the style

Well, I'm happy that she got the cover, because Gauri is usually in her husband's shadow. The edit is beautiful, but the cover...hm.

not so fond of the cover though the dress is nice, i think that kind of cover would have been pulled off by a more edgy model. Not too keen on the direction Indian vogue is taking

Oh no I hope they don't keep the white background thing. Its just not as enticing as the other covers.

Any word on editorial content?

The other covers were better than this. Last month it was Deepika Padukone

There are sooooooo many more pretty faces in India.

I kind of hope Aishwarya Rai doesn't get one, but that's wishful thinking. I would love to see ALL the different types of beauty that India has to offer, not just the ones who look European, which is the direction Vogue India seems to be going in.
