Vogue Italia August 2013 : Amanda Murphy by Steven Meisel

I find it, overall, to be an interesting cover and interestingness is sometimes more important than beauty or stunningness. I like the optical illusion going on in the font-I also really like the way she is standing and the chair as well. When you dissect the cover, there are a few things about it that are not so impressive but I think in its totality its sleek and elegant. I like the simple line in the composition, created by the chair.

I have the same feeling!

We have seen such eds from Mile Aldridge for like how long? Also Vincent Peter's ed looks like out-takes from one of his previous eds in Vogue Italia. Sure these photographers have their unique styles, but sometimes it's just getting repetitive and lazy.

I like Karen's ed but somehow it reminds me of last September's main ed with Carolyn Murphy. Maybe because of the hair and make-up style?

My copy has been sitting around for about a week (still shrink-wrapped), so today I eventually remembered about it and thought I would see if Meisel's story looked any better in the flesh - and turns out it does. The editorial looks very well rehearsed. I love how the chairs compliment the clothes and marvelous styling from Marie-Amélie Sauvé. You can tell there was some serious planning and researching before the shoot. This is probably the only shoot where I've thought Julia Nobis looks at home too.
