Vogue Italia August 2016 : Lara Stone by Steven Klein

Is that Andres San Juan? If so, then we have 2 of my favorite models.. and yet I feel so disappointed. The editorial feels so odd. She's pegged as this super woman and yet Lara doesn't exude power. It looks superimposed. They didn't even bother making it look real. The intensity is missing. I mean, there's no emotion. She doesn't exude energy. The photography is bland. Everything feels so disconnected. Lara's standing there with her arm up while the guy seems to be almost thrown off at a different angle. She's carrying a man and yet you don't see any tension in her body...

Everything Klein does looks the same, this editorial is no different.

^ Yes it does. Main ed is very VP 2010 (October i think).

Lara looks totally amazing though

They managed to select the weakest shot of Lara's edit for the cover... Otherwise, I like it-- it's classic Steven Klein: Odd, creepy, cheeky, porny, surreal (I think the Andres-light-as-a-feather-carried-by-Lara is intentional), Helmut Newton. So much better than his down-dumbed for the "Muricans W/Rihanna shoot.

I was reminded of these:

I definitely see it now. The original--don't know if Avedon was inspired by something else, too, but anyway--is a whole lot better and makes the copycat fall completely flat.

Overall, it looks like a boring issue, especially compared to the previous one. I like Arizona and I usually love to see Yelena's eds in VI, but that ed does nothing for me. The styling is dull, and after all, I'm not a one for a sport ed/issue.
Thanks for the pics, Avogadro.

I like Lara's ed but I think the problem I have with it is its title 'Athletic Girl' and the cover title 'When Sport Meets Fashion'. The ed looks more like some superpower girl

emma summerton's ed is the best thing about this. i don't hate lara's ed. everything else, meh

apart from the repetitive nature, my problem with Klein's editorial is Lara's expression. She is supposed to be doing heavy lifting and her expression corresponds to the expression of a person who is faking a workout.

Not a fan of the cover but I like the editorial so much

More like "Fashion meets Cartoony Domestic Abuse" :D
Lovely ed from Klein! Exactly the type of thing I like from him, he's so good whenever they take away his tacky red/blue filters. Unlike Rihanna's ed for W this is an instant yes for me.

The rest of the contents are C-list and mediocre, but that's to be expected from this magazine-with or without Meisel..
