Vogue Paris May 2010 : Penélope, Naomi, Gwyneth, Meryl, Julianne & Kate by I&V

Testino ed is classuc old stuff looks very gucci ad campaign ss 2003, but i dont like how old and bad daria looks and her lip colour. overall great to see testino/carine again together!

she wore short dresses, but in a sort of childish, naive, but still sexy way, and pulled them off gracefully...
but wasn't that more at the beginning of their relationship (still in the 60s)?, Jane moved on a little from that once in the 70s and became more sexually blatant in her style imo.

I think Carine did a great job actually, if it wasn't for the fact that I love Serge much more than this guy and Jane more than Daria, I would say this is slightly better than the original Liu story, it still has some elegance to it whereas Serge & Jane's ed is raunchy at its best.. though I still love it.

Daria's ed is amazing imo  I also like Magdalena's, but I 'really didnt like Natasha's editorial.
Thank you for the scans elsa :flower:

I feel a bit dirty looking at Daria's editorial  What a sexy issue!

But personally, I think VParis is really going down lately ...
I can't really explain why, but they are very repetitive and the creativity and freshness they brought in 2001-2004 area's gone ... Raising the very intelligent and chic of another age VP used to be in the 90s was a big challenge, and Roitfeld managed in this game ...
What E. Alt did in terms of fashion democratization is huge, no matter what people say (no matter what i think) ... She's brought her style anywhere from catwalks to streets ... This parisian style was already in the air in Paris, a long time ago, but she manages to democratize it ... And that's great.

Moreover, since MA Sauvé left and VP tried to feed readers with new blood (Jane How, Alasdair, now Mélanie Ward etc.) the magazine has kind of lost its identity ....
I won't complain about Jane How, nor Joe McKenna etc. I love their work ...

But I don't know VP under Roitfeld seems to have lost its soul ....
I will probably change my mind ...
Or perhaps it's just that my eyes need something different and more creative ...
i agree 110% with you.

now about plage privée, vogue paris is making me grow so tired of natasha poly doing sexy faces... i imagine other two versions of it: one by terry richardson and one by inez and vinoodh, both very much in the current VP style, and making an imaginary comparison, mario sorrenti was a great choice to make it a bit better - his lack of pretentiousness and amazing capacity to always do justice to women's body is like a conterpoise to the styling's silly irony. i also can't deny poly is a good model when it comes to posing, but unfortunately her poses and his aesthetic weren't enough to make me like it.
and an ed inspired by gainsbourg and jane birkin could be all i could ask for, but i don't know, the styling is quite good, the overall aethetic is very carine+testino in the early 00s, which i love, but it lacks something, francesco isn't very convincing...

Wow! Thanks for the links. I appreciate the edit so much more now ^_^!

Having said that, I don't think Natasha is the issue in that story, it's the godawful styling by Emmanuelle who keeps playing with kitsch and irony and everything in between thinking she's smart enough to turn up decent results, this is as bad as that story styled by Carine a few months ago featuring Jac and Lily D.

agree with these points. i'm a Poly fan but there's just something not working for me in this ed.
we can all agree that she has a fantastic body, no arguments with that. but what bothers me is
that the whole edit itself looks abit of a cliche, since normally VP shoves a halfnaked Daria down
our throats every month, give or take the same setting/same composition  and Emmanuelle
seriously needs to do something about this appalling styling. kitschy street elements may be her
trademark but unfortunately applying this repetitive style to every edit she has does not qualify as
'unifying' street culture and high fashion. it only highlights the lack of cultural diversity imo.

and speaking of a halfnaked Daria in every issue, wow. there you go :o is VP trying to do a Maxim
this issue? what's up with all the sexthemed editorials? :ninja: it's as if they had Terry Richardson
guestedit this issue, with all these underdressed models bandied around in every page

I get the reference, but that Daria editorial is a display of dull groping.

December 1974, eh!

The Jane Birkin reference in Daria's edit is very interesting and well thought out.
Somehow it's better than the original, which is usually rare when re-creating images.

where have you seen sex theme except daria? we ve seen 2 eds only by now, and there` s only a title of another klein ed seemed to be sexual themed...so it`s early yet to make conclusions based on 2 eds posted...(beauty + jewelry eds are nt about sex actualy) ogue paris has always that playful erotic vibe in each issue (nudity etc) it`s just their concept issue by issue under carine roitfeld

WOW, Natasha's edit is super sexy! She angles and curves her body so well, she did that with the last Gucci campaign too, now that's modeling.

I love Daria's eds. Her beauty ed is so strong. Especially the first shot.
Magdalena looks lovely. Very simple and clean and the focus on the piece of jewelry.
And Natasha looks hot. Though I hate the styling with the shoes. And I HATE the tan. We get it.. It's summer, now be done with it. But she looks so powerful. Especially on the horse. (though I wish she would put her arms down lower. It's an amateur position)

Looking forward to see more!

is this real life?

photoshop disaster of the year so far.

:yuk:
yep, i thought the same... it doesn't look as a cover... it's just bad, bad, bad. and what about the layout? changes again?
this issue seems to be quite bad. however, i'm really happy to see testino and carine working together again.
reading alt's name already makes me have a bad impression about the ed, and i'm usually right. not a fan of sorrtenti's ed.
claudia and stefan have done a great job for the magazine, i hope to see them in a bigger spread.

Thanks for posting this, the editorial makes much more sense now! I don't like the hair and make-up but other than that it's good!

As for Natasha's ed, I hate the shoes but I love how sexy it is - I'm a fan on any collaboration between Natasha and Mario Sorrenti!

Magda looks stunning, although I don't like the jewels from her ed

The Sorrenti editorial is really bad...a woeful attempt at holier-than-thou irony (the whole overtanned young woman/Donatella Versace type who spends her holidays on the beach). Mario shoots such understated, beautiful stories for W; but I don't like any story he's done in recent VP.

I love Testino's editorial though...it's a nice adaption of the images that MulletProof posted, even if their poses get a bit static and repetitve towards the end of the story.

people love, people hate ...

to each their own ...

at the end of the day, it's always the same references ... and eventhough i don't have the magazine so i cannot judge the thing in a whole ...
why put some many actress for a MAY issue (CANNES) when all your references are coming from - as stated by tigerrouge - the 1970s ????????

I just don't get the editorial line of the thing ?
Is this about SEX (as usual) ? Yes ? so ASSUME IT ON YR COVER !
Why playing it safe with Penelope and her girlfriends ?
Damn GOD !

Put an old school Natascha/Lara/Daria playing Emmanuelle in a chair on the cover, et l'affaire est réglée !!!
Why being so politically US guideline ?
This is beyond ridiculous !!!

Show me yr balls on the table, Carine !!!
Don't be afraid !!!!

* sorry for being over-reacting .............

Berlin, only one ed is about 70`s actually and its hard to connect its theme with movies or something... i think the issue is nor about sex. thats hard to tell yet, cause we havent seen most of the material from the issue

and cover looks absolutely american publication such as Vanity fair, but at least issues`s gonna sell well and for non-fashion related ppl too. thats the main reason why celebs are on US Vogue covers. but, thanks God, cover is without natasha or daria or lara. it` s always same models gracing VP covers and they need to take a time out...they hurt eyes without any further jests

RED, Bono and all that pretentious charity make me want to vomit :yuk:.

it is better, indeed! even if i love serge & jane but the reference is very well made.
