Vogues that are reusing editorial content from other Vogues

I was just wondering whether it was common for other Vogue publications (eg. Vogue US, UK etc.) to re-use editorial from other Vogues. Or is this just characteristic of Vogue Australia?

I think it is fairly common, especially amongst the Vogue's which have a smaller circulation. Vogue Mexico does it the whole time, it isn't abnormal for them to just have one original ed and for the rest to be lifted from (usually) US or British Vogue.

^^ Very true, GivenchyPrincess.

But it annoys me how Vogue Australia uses soooo many Vogue eds. from other Vogues (especially Vogue US). They should be allowed to use Austalian photographers, stylists, artists, make-up artists, manicurists, assistants etc. to help foster AUSTRALIAN talent.

Oh well. What can you do?

Elle :)

i find that the arts/photography scene in australia is very homogenous- Justin Smith seems to have a stranglehold on most editorials in fashion mags.

You make a fair point ... but I think that's starting to change with magazines like Russh, Yen and Dazed & Confused Aus/NZ really starting to dominate. :D:D

Figure if it isn't one of the Big 4 Vogues, or maybe a few others, you'll see reused eds either part or most of the time. I remember that the Vogue Hellas cover with Christy Turlington was a reprint from her US Vogue ed in August.

In an ideal world the smaller Vogues would use more of their own talents, create their own editorials, but I doubt it will happen.

^True, Ithink the only Vogue's that never use reprints are US, UK, Italia, Paris, and Germany? the rest tend to use reprints quite often. I wouldn't mind so much from the Aussie edition if they atleast had original cover a la' Espana.

Vogue Russia usually reprints eds in their november and february issues. And they usually reprints celeb photos
I saw that spanish Vogue reprint eds in feb or jan issues

I don't mind the reprints I see in Vogue Espana, because it means I get to see content from US Vogue without buying the magazine itself - US Vogue is no longer an automatic purchase for me, but Vogue Espana is a must-buy.

I sometimes buy non-US Vogue for its reprints, simply because resolution of reprint is much better than that of US one,

Almost all international Vogues use reprinted editorial except US, UK, Italian, Paris and German Vogue.

australian vogue (amongs others) isn't actualy produced in house by conde nast. it's published under liscence by an australian publisher. i presume that for this reason they dont have the budget of uk/us etc and are forced to use reprints in order to keep up the quality.

co-incidentally i was considering putting those mags into my post- RUSSH is gorgeous, Yen is cute (but focuses on illustrations and graphics abit too much).

FOLLOW, however i actually cannnot stand.

So it's not as bad as i made it out...but my point with Justin Smith is that he seems to get too much attention which takes away from other talented photographers.

Yes this is a super old thread.... but doesn't anyone else think it's still a real shame? I was just reading the March copy of Vogue Au and noticed that "Best in Class" was re-used from W Magazine.

A) Didn't realise Vogue Au was affiliated with W Magazine... although both Condé Nast so it makes sense

B) Surely they can source some local talent in forms of designers, photographers and stylists?

C) Don't they think their readers have seen it already? Those who will probably subscribe to a fashion magazine are more than likely to peruse the online fashion sites like Fashion Gone Rogue anyway and see these editorials?

I think Vogue outside of America should really think about point B
