Hi everyone.. I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that Von Dutch is becoming very hip-hop or a ghetto brand. Don't get me wrong, i really used to like Von Dutch but now its just getting ridiculous. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm a little sick of seeing all the trucker hats and t-shirts that scream "Von Dutch" :/

A little too Ashton Kutcher if you ask me

you're late...von dutch has BEEN ghetto...trina wore it in a rap video

but von dutch has always been a sort of celebrity brand so...why are you upset?

Im not too upset... I liked Von Dutch a long time before I saw every rapper wearing it, maybe thats why. Isn't that ironic that a white trash style can become that way... Maybe I just have a complex with rappers. They can always take a good thing and make it ghetto fabulous (not just w/ Von Dutch).

Yep, their PR campaign has created a type of Pavlovian response in my mind where the mention of the brand conjures up images of the ubiquitous Kutcher and the- frat-chick-on-a-bender Tara Reid.

I've never liked Von Dutch...it just doesn't suit my style...then again Gucci has become associated with rap recently...

More than just just Gucci.... Louis Vuitton also. Anything with a label they can flash on everything from clothes to car upholstery, its so wrong.

I totally agree, rappers are sporting the gucci logo everywhere (on the boots, hats, belts) Its turning it into coach.

I don't undersatnd why it's such big problem? If you like it wear it.

If you liked a design with 'Little children turn me on' written on it would you wear it? Clothes inevitably have connotations because of their label that say just as much as the design...

Gucci logo canvas is beggining to say 'Rich and tasteless' in big pink letters...

All right, I admit to being a little selfish to not like a brand because of rappers wearing it. But i think i came off as something i didn't want to. I still wear all my Von Dutch clothes and I don't care. I just wanted to make a point of it becoming ghetto fab, sorry for the confusion. For the record, im not upset... concerned is a better word.

Agreed. I'm trying more and more not to get caught up in what others think or what impression. Just look good for yourself and what you like :flower:

Honestly, I dont like it when people wear clothing and dont even know who the designer is. I mean they have no clue what Luis Vuitton or gucci is. I have an appreciation for the company and the heritage. I think that if you dont stick to wearing clothing designed for the "masses" like Levis.

i never liekd von dutch tehre clotehs are gross cheap and trashy. :yuk:

it seems so imbecilic to discard fashions simply because they have entered into rap culture. most rap stars are dressed by (gasp, surprise) stylists. stylists who have far more inside-track knowledge of fashion than most people can dream for.

i would HOPE a rapper wears something i was wearing, it is almost a stamp of fashionability...you think that i am not going to shop vera wang bc jay-z endorsed her in his latest song...you are CRAZY.

i think this whole obsession with throwing off things that have the appearance of being popular is just a veiled form of snobbery.

You are right.... Jay z is an exception. He is always very fashion conscious and knowledgable about what's new and popular.

sorry to say, but most stylists that dress 'pop & rap stars' are obviously not knowing much about fashion..

I don't really care about what Von Dutch is turning to,
I just know I never liked it and never will. ;)
