W Magazine November 2015 : Jessica Chastain by Steven Klein

Oh boy! When W tries this hard, its never a good result. She deserves better than this, but why are they stuck on the same 20+ actresses for their covers? Its so uninspiring!

Wow, I was excited when I saw the thread title but this is horrendous. I literally gasped when I looked at this "dangerous beauty" look W is pushing.

I actually dont mind the concept (drawn on brows and garish pink hair aside), it's a striking and arresting pose and I love Klein's cold and religious effect here. What I do mind is the casting. Jessica Chastain, really? They've already gone to town with her last Art covers, and that was special enough. She's just about the unfiercest actress out there. This is as ill-fitting as that cover with Kate Hudson done up as a superhero a few years ago.

wow I think Jessica is beautiful and very talented but this...this is notgood. Yikes.

Jessica is a great actress, and a beautiful woman. This cover is awful tho, and the editorial isn't much better. I'm guessing the concept is supposed to tie in with her new film Crimson Peak, but it's a fail. Nothing gothic, haunting, or romantic here. Just garishness. Love Klein, but no to this.

Well, this is definitely like I've never seen her before! Love Jessica Chastain and I think she's beautiful but I'm on the fence with this cover and edit. I appreciate the concept, but the execution is too harsh and leaves her looking a bit animated.

Truly like I've never seen her before and most definitely not the way I want to see her ever again. This is terrible. Those eyebrows are unforgivable. I get that those brows match the concept but it could have been executed better. Those aren't brows. Those are leeches. At the very least brows should be cousins but these look like strangers to each other. What kind of magazine promotes beauty and yet fails to execute likewise. I would've appreciated this more if the brows were symmetrical.

What I've noticed is that Edward is trying to replicate what Carine used to be for Vogue Paris. I always see her in his work. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm gearing towards the latter.

Oh my, this is tragic, why did have to do her this dirty? Poor jess

Didn't expect the comments after staring at it for a while, I like it :ninja:.. she looks like one of these gothic women in their 40s that actually live a certain kind of lifestyle and don't really just listen to scandinavian metal eating froot loops at night. I think it looks cool, and I also like this distorted version of all the elements that make Jessica recognizable, but in acid here. And she looks hot.

Awful!
Bold brows do not work for everyone. Fashion magazines really need to accept this.
