What are you wearing for Christmas and/or New years eve?

possibly not quite the right place to ask for help, but i'm so torn over what to wear for New Year's -- one of my options that may or may not pan out is "black tie" on the invite -- but somewhere 'cool' and 'fashionable' (Standard Hotel here in NYC) and not like, stuffy old people black tie.

but what does that even MEAN these days, and especially somewhere like that??? like, would last year's drapey alex wang cocktail dress with some uber-heels be ok, or do things need to be longer or more formal? should i use this as an excuse to blow 80% of a paycheck on this Gareth Pugh dress (below -- oops, sorry for making image too large before!) I've been coveting since the FW09 shows, or is that still too short/casual??

Is anyone else going to some sort of 'black tie' event for new year's, and what are you wearing?

I decided to wear some black wool tights, a dark grey wool dress and a light grey cardigan. Perfect for a relaxed (hopefully) dinner with my family.

Seriously I'm on a blank!! & thats not very me.. And tonight is the big family meal here in Spain

I thought maybe a dark dress? Or something casual but chic & comfy in order to play with my niece & nephew? Wear something during the dinner then change later? (we are used her to go out with friends after midnight...)

OK im in front of my closet like theres nothing on there appropriated for tonight or something...

For tonight I'll be home with family over and I have a couple of items that I can easily pair together for an outfit. For New Years, I don't even know if I'm doing anything.

I ended up wearing the same silvery dress I wore last year with my cardigan that was actually one of my presents last year. I tried on the stuff I was going to wear and realized the skirt was too big.

Ended up in this - I found the red skirt more suitable for Christmas than the yellow dress.

lovely zarina !

any idea for NYE for boys ?
I have NO idea ...
I'm searching, searching ... but Nothing comes in my mind.
I'm especially, now, looking for ANY accessoiries ... to spice up a casual look.

I hesitate btw a casual chic outfit : beige pants, brown shoes, blue shirt and blazer OR BLACK and bowtie + tie pearl pin ...

what will you wear BOYS and MEN ?

Oh Zarina, you outfit really brightens my mood, so christmasy, in a good way ^_^

I think I know what I want to wear for new years eve now..
It's probably going to be this poison green h&m dress with the light brown belt as on the pic and the paired with a pair of dark brown pumps...

What is certain though, is that i'll be wearing the big crazy orange wig that I just bought. I think it's brilliant  (even though it does look more red on the pic. It is more 'prison orange' IRL)

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

Tinetush, love the green color! It will be a great contrast to the red wig!

Sorry for my phone's **** quality but here's my dress and scarf (which is silver in reality by the way :) )

And in case it gets too cold, I'll add a jacket:

i'm being lame and just chilling for new year's, but i feel you on the boston weather.

i think styling based off shoe choice is a good idea. as for the rest, my main requirement for new year's is a pair of pretty shu uemura false lashes!

earplugs.and I wish I had a mask for all the toxic ingredients in firework smoke. Also will be wearing a lot of cat hair by the end of the night from nursing my traumatized cat through it.Wish people would think about the effects of fireworks.

i've been blessed with long thick eyelashes so a quick swipe of mascara will do the trick for me... :p
i think false eyelashes would make me look like a monster :ninja:

i think i've decided on a body conscious blk dress with a sort of scoop neck and puff sleeve (also 3/4 length sleeve) from zara...
with a blk and silver diamond pattern belt, also from zara a while back..
thin material but i will be layering up...

with blk tights, blk slouchy boots
mustard/saffron rodarte for target cardigan and a short sleeved long cashmere michael kors cardigan on top of that...
will try to post a pic...
not sure if that all makes sense but i think it will work

also the requisite scarf, gloves and coat....
i actually have a yellow sort of bubble coat that my sister got me for christmas that i would love to wear out but i think it might not be a good match for the weather :ermm:
we'll see if i decide to suffer for fashion tonight...
