Well I am new here so hi to everybody.

I recently bought this dress

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d84/sleepy_DC/dress.jpg

and I am having trouble finding accessories. I will need to buy some kind of scarf/shrug/bolero since one part of the wedding I am attending is going to be outside and it will be a bit cold (Christmas wedding). I'm having trouble finding shoes that don't have a killer-high heels. If anybody has any suggestions for some kind of top that could be worn with this dress or any kind of accessories they can think of please help :)

there are rabbit fur or faux fur capes/shrugs available and inexpensive in most of the department stores. That kind of silver color normally goes with a black dress well. You can also wear flats. Think about Sophia Coppola:) Adding leg warmers on your way or wearing a floor length coat will help you keep warm as well. enjoy the wedding :flower:

I bought a blazer a few months ago, but I can't figure out what I should wear it with. It's a fitted navy blue blazer with faint thin, blue, vertical stripes on it. Any ideas?

^
fitted navy blue blazer...
unbuttoned, sleeves folded up a bit carelessly...
with high-waisted wide-leg black trousers...
a button-down white shirt tucked in... with cuffs peeking out...
messy hair...
heels... red!

this is how i would wear a blazer...
good luck with your purchase!

^ Sounds nice Calexico!

samo22 - I wear blazers with everything as far as underlayers. Collared shirts, turtlenecks, crewnecks, v-necks, mandarin collars... you name it and it can be worn with a blazer imo! And since the color is neutral (even with the pinstripes since they're faint), you're really open as far as color combinations too. I think you'd be hard-pressed to go wrong with this jacket, so I'd just have fun with it :flower:

Thanks (belatedly) to all who replied. I wanted to reply back with my purchase, but it took a little longer to find something than I expected. I finally settled on a light grey silk sleeveless top, with sequined neckline. I tried the cashmere, but it didn't look dressed up enough for this dinner. Now I am looking for a new pair of pumps. In my mind I see a black round toe half inch platform with straight heel and ankle strap, but I am not finding this shoe in the stores. Might have to compromise yet again on shoewear.

I want to wear this circle skirt at a Xmas party, it is silver lace with silver lining. I had originally thought of wearing a white wrap shirt, but the skirt hangs below the waist, and with the wrap my waistline disappears. It looks too casual with a black top, so I am thinking either a white or silver top but what style? I'd like to go sophisiticate and retro.

What you're describing sounds like YSL for spring ...

Here's what I found poking around on NM's website ...

Delman

Ferragamo

Blahnik

Kors

White suit jacket, what to wear it with?

Hi all, after some suggestions here.

I've just gone the way of a white Paul smith 'suit-cut' jacket for summer. I tried it on with blue denim and it looked quite cool.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other bottoms I could wear it with? I'm a little stuck for ideas right now ;)

Welcome DPD :flower:

Not an homme, but I've seen many of our tFS men doing blk denim with light sneakers and it looks fabulous! That would work with your white suit jacket. Maybe a stripey T underneath...

I love that idea!

What coloured belt could I wear with a black/dark navy/too blind to tell fitted long winter coat? I'm trying to rock that sought after wide belt cinched waist look:ninja: The most obvious colour this season and classically would be red, but I wanted something less cliched and more futuristic, and that sounded like a fabulous idea ...... unless I realised that I didn't know what other colour would go with black:shock: White maybe? But that would just look like I'd been sliced in half and the upper chunk was performing levitation as a party trick .....

^how about a very understated silver or something slightly glittery/sequined? Off-white/tannish? Might help if you showed a pic of your coat! :flower:

Thanks, I'll take a photo of it tomorrow (it's about 3am in the morning now and I'm so tired that I'm beginning to experience delirium:hardhead: Not a good sign..... Ooo look, a magestic eagle soaring across the sky!)

Some of you might remember this bag I got as a gift from Handbags Yay or Nay. We concluded that it was a little too much on the plain side, but I still didn't have the guts to ask for the receipt to return it (anyway, I don't think that store has a good collection to choose from anyhow.) So, I decided to try to spruce it up by adding a little charm to it. Please excuse the fact that the bag's looking kind of deflated and tired in the charm picture. It's empty. and this bag doesn't photograph well for some reason. Anyway, I kind of like the charm - it really SPARKLES and catches the light. But I'm not sure... is it tacky? I wanted to make the bag look a bit more youthful but not TOO youthful (I'm 25.) So be honest, does the charm look childish or just wrong? Or does it help deflect the YAWN-FILLED boredom that the bag otherwise brings on?

^hmm, this is a toughie. The charm adds a nice touch and makes it a little less boring, but I'm not sure it's enough. Maybe if the handles went from side to side instead of in the middle, you could tie on a Pucci scarf or something, but other than that, I don't know what else you could do. I'll keep thinking though! :flower:

Yasmin, I feel like both the scale and tone of the charm are off ... I think it's a bit too small, and also a bit too cute.

I don't know if this fits with your style at all, but since it's a bit heavy and black I thought maybe you could go a bit edgy. Didn't Prada do a skull trick? Something like that maybe ...

Something else you could try is a scarf. You could take a look at Coach's ... I can see maybe a mod optic black and white ...

I would take a Marc Jacobs "I mean for it to look a bit stodgy" approach rather than trying to make it cute, which isn't in its DNA ...

And PS retrain the giver pronto to give you mall gift certificates ;)

ta-ta, it does fit with my style (edgy, that is) :)

I have to agree with you, the little butterfly charm does seem kind of too small and too cute (the little thing is overwhelmed by the blackness around it).

I have no idea where I might be able to find something bigger and darker like that little skull around Toronto, but I guess I could find a keychain and them modify the part that I'll attach to the bag... (I used the handbag's "shoulderstrap hook" which is a much thinner leather loop hidden behind the handle to attach this "cell phone charm", which is on a sort of loop of string...)
