hm..great suggestions..Im tempted to wear my balenciaga boots ( they were from FA03) im sure all of you guys remember them the mid thigh boots..when i tried it on with the dress it looks very modish..as if im wearing leather tights under the dress..u cant really tell they r boots...with the cold paris weather i figured they might be perfect......ill tell u my final verdict..I dont have ANY BLACK BAGS/CLUTCHES!

I have a pair of black velvet skinny pants I'm working on distressing. So far the only things I can think of to pair with them are a black beater tank, and long necklace, or an olive green long wrap top that I have. Anyone have any ideas?

Uniq - the boots sound great! I don't think the bag/clutch needs to be black. What colors DO you have? Anything neutral or metallic?

Shoegal - where does the skirt hit you on the leg? Would make a difference on the type of shoe and it's hard to tell from the pic

I have a smart black shift style dress...and also some smart brown leather heeled shoes. Is it good syle to wear brown shoes with black clothes or should I only stick with black shoes??!!!!

I think depending on the style of shoe you could do it. Personally I like to wear black, patterned, or coloured shoes with black dresses though.

eleganza -- I think mixing black and brown could often work, but personally I wouldn't were brown shoes with a black dress. Black would work, or some other fun color like red.

Jillian -- I think some peep toe or round toe pumps would be great. Or maybe some high heel sandals. I wouldn't go for anything pointy or wedges. If you post some you own, or some your considering buying to go with the dress, I can let you know which I think would be best, but it does seem pretty easy to match to since it's a simple dress.

I am planning on wearing this dress to a wedding, but am not sure what color or style shoes to wear ... does anyone have any advice? I think strappy heels/stillettos are going to look too whimsical for my taste, but I don't know what else to do!
