What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

I'm having a problem because I usually wear black and white...
I bought a wine-colored tent dress from APC. It's cold and I have no idea what to wear over it, or what shoes and tights to wear with it.
I also have a hunter green tie neck top (also from APC, curse them) that I can't seem to match to anything.
Any suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

I have the same dress in the brown (and the same issue). When it wasn't quite so cold I wore it with a short sleeved plaid shirt underneath. Now that it's colder I was thinking of getting a dark grey, long sleeved turtleneck (similar to this one from American Apparel

) and wearing that underneath. Thick tights or leggings and ankle boots...and a brown a-line coat...and a striped brown/grey scarf that I got from APC last winter.

impercipience- With the wine coloured dress you could try thick black wool tights and black pumps? And if it's cold, maybe a thick black cardigan worn open.

Recently I've bought up some American Apparel dresses... such as these, in Black:

What boots (NO flats - I don't wear tights or leggings) should I purchase so that I can wear these cotton dresses into the winter? (I'm thinking tall, flat boots...) I've layered the first a couple of times with a light sweater and skinny scarf, to add some bulk... but wore them with sandals because it was in the 70's outside. Would something like cotton even work when it's cooler? I live in Florida, and in the winter the highs are around 55-60, on average.

I'd wear it more with a coat than a jacket - something like this. Any coat with wider sleeves could be made to look like this.

Aris i know you said that your budget is $200 or less but i think this wool jacket by Marc Jacobs is sooo cute and would look good with the elbow gloves.But its $458 at Bergdorf Goodman.Her it is.But if you could find one similar and cheaper that would be great.Oh and thanks for the pics i love that with the shoes.

i love the jacket who is the designer.I want it that is beautiful and perfect with the shoes.
