And You could do what SJP did in satc for Charlotte's first wedding... lol

I thought of this as soon as I heard wedding...

I can't find a pic of it... Ugh.. it was just a satin sash with some flowers tucked in (and a piece of tartan kilt, but i wouldn't put that on ;) )

Sounds great!! Even better than what I posted. Good instincts :flower: Hope the party was fun!

I bought this vintage dress on ebay, and I'm having a hard time deciding what to wear it with. I also don't know if I should cut off the sleeves or not, since that might make it look less costume-y. Please give me some advice  .

you could cut off the sleeves, and wear simple jeans underneath the dress! Or you could simply wear the dress as it is with sandels and a short jaket/sweater that ends above the waist..

I like that. Does it have buttons down the front? If so, I think if it were me I might unbutton it a little bit. If it doesn't, it would be fine too...but I would definitely probably just wear it with some flat leather sandals. It would probably look good with OR without the sleeves if you leave on like maybe one inch of the sleeve materials then hem it so it doesn't unweave itself...ahh...I don't know if that made any sense. I am so tired. In any event, I like the dress. It has lots of potential as an easy summer dress. ^_^

help!

what could i wear with this jacket colour and shape wise? baring in mind i dont do baggy trousers, bare chests or bandannas (shudder) lol

Turn it into a strapless dress. Cutoff the sleeves definately, see what it looks like with that upper panel on, and if you dont like it make it a strapless. I actually like it quite a bit, but those sleeves have got to go.

Accessorize with a few wood, gold and turqouise bangles and some kelly green peektoe pumps.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, Diorling, shopsmuch, and micaela :flower: . I think I'm going to cut off those sleeves!

Ok, I've got a pair of Diesel dark grey pants that I'm really not sure what they would go with.. I was thinking a light grey or white button down shirt, or a white snug fit rib-knit light sweater, but I would really like to hear some suggestions. My skin tone is somewhat pale has a very slight olive tint to it, and I have dark brown short hair (looks better than it sounds :P).

You can see the pants here: http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?codice8=36018384

I have rather ecclectic tastes, and enjoy various fashion styles (I like a little goth fashion, not overbearing or anything). I like button down shirts, and anything snug fitting (I have a pretty decent body for it), but I'm open to anything outside my comfort zone. I wear black new-rock boots usually (they go with just about anything I wear). I like stuff that has a flashy or dramatic flare to it; Anything that suits my personality, which is pretty vibrant. I'm also a very artsy guy.

I'm not exactly a rich guy, so cheap suggestions are preffered. As well, the best shopping place that is close to me is Columbia, MIssouri - Probably the best store in the area is an Express store in the mall (Express freaking rocks, but it is a bit out of my price range most of the time).

Ok, I'll shut up and listen to your suggestions now.. Sorry :P

Sorry, I have no clue what I was on, kelly green shoes. I think a pair of petrol blue pumps or bronze/silver metallic sandals (flat or heeled. Keep the wood bangles and toss some jade/coral in there for fun.

What to wear with polos?

I couldn't find a topic like this, but if there is...please tell me ;) . Sorry if someone already asked about this.
I'm going to attend a prep school in the fall, where we're only allowed to wear v-necks, henleys, and polos. For pants, only khakis and chinos.
I don't know how to wear polos with khakis. With pearls? Ribbon belts? Is classic preppy the only way to go?

/\ I suggest you quit before it's too late. Haven't you read Catcher in the Rye?

i went to a prep school with a (very) strict dress code but noone did "classic preppy"

you are def taking it WAY too far with the pearls and ribbon belts thing..
if you are getting your ideas from movies... girls dressed in pastel twinsets with matching hairband, pearl necklace and chinos, forget about it..... seriously.

think.. a mix between jcrew and abercrombie.. with lilly pulitzer :ninja: dresses. thats more realistic..

anyways.
someone else posted somethig similar about prep school clothes... so search for that thread to get some ideas :)

polos with bootcut chinos.. polos with skirts... they are pretty versatile imo

I have got a dress like this in a dark brown to wear for a christening:

Its a bit shorter than that, what should I wear with it?

^
it depends on your coloring. Personally I would wear gold hardware (ie a long gold necklace or hammered gold cuff) with it but perhaps if I was feeling more 'organic' would wear wood accessories. So many things really go with brown....teal is also a great color. It depends how formal or informal the christening is really.

great dress boho babe...
i'd wear a strappy sandal and a great ncklc...
meg's suggestions of gold and/or wood sound lovely...
