ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FALL READY TO WEAR

I love the whole masculine boot with feminine details

GREAT BOOTS!!! I think you should do it with a tulip shape skirt. Marc by Marc Jacobs had great ones this season.

Even though the boots aren't really form fitting? To the calf I mean? They are kinda clunky and "square"... that's why I wasn't sure if I'd be able to wear them with a skirt/dress. But there is room to tuck in pants... Maybe with a flared skirt then right? Thanks for the help guys. I'd love to see some more if anyone else has any ideas!

I just put them on hold ~.~

I love the fact that they are loose though! I like slouchy boots...They are the BEST for tucking into jeans. Well since it's loose you could contrast that by wearing tight pencil skirts then I think. I mean you could choose to be rocker and wear it with a frayed denim mini..Just make sure the mini doesn't flare out too much or it might look weird.

But long skirts I think would work still.

Those boots are awesome I'm sure you would look great wearing them with just about anything =)

Ditto :flower: And please, please, please don't cover them with a pair of trousers. Not that you were planning too, but that would be a shame :(

Yasmin - quite the opposite... I think they're wonderful. And I think they could go with anything from skirts & dresses to shorts & culottes. Wear with boots or wedges... the list goes on. They're great for some added interest. Did you have a particular outfit in mind for them?

No, I just thought they seemed like a cozy take on opaque tights, but I am not sure what fabrics they might go with since they have their own texture. I think of a wool skirt but not much else... doesn't seem right somehow for my thin suede skirt...

yasmin i love the tights...
seems like they would work with suede to me...

Your assistance, please..

Luckily, since I dont know any of you personally, I can get an honest, unbiased opinion..

Take this sweater...In the pic, I mixed it w/ a blue plaid collar, and green & white polkadot bowtie...Looking back at it now, I think, "Oh no, no, no--big mistake..Way too much going on there TrophyBoy..." But, because the colors are so bold, I dont know what to do w/ it...If I add another garment w/ another strong color or another print, I'll look quite clownish (as evidenced in the pic)...Im thinking: fitted black sportscoat (subtle pinstripes maybe) w/ black or blue jeans, and brown or black shoes...I would like to add another print, but nothing too overwhelming, but am stuck there...any other suggestions?

trophy...it really depends on your personality. I don't personally think the way you paired it there is all that bad.

Personally though to 'tame' down shirts I take a color that is within the shirt and wear it underneath. Ie. wear a pink or cream or brown shirt underneath would be a simple solution I think. I like the jeans with it though

^ Agree :flower:

If you're mixing patterns, I think it's much easier to stay within the same color family. It also works well if you contrast the size of the print. Bold with subtle. The sportcoat idea is good, but I'd prefer a brown I think. Black seems like a bit too much of a contrast against the pink. My opinion anyway ;) BTW, over "TrophyBoy"...

Help me! I have this fancy sequinned bolero, I've only worn it once. Just with jeans, flats and a plain white cami (spme festival-thing, couldn't dress up too much) - but I cant seem to think of other ways to wear it. Yes, I know boleros aren't excactly hot anymore, but I really like this one

Hilfe!

Hi Ida, you should try doing a search on sequin bolero - there was a lot of sequin bolero's posted a little while back - that might give you some inspiration.

I have a sequin bolero as well ..lovely ..but I haven't used it as much as I'd like to. My excuse is my huge dairy  ..You should wear it regardless of trends - its so lovely.:flower:

Thats the thing, my personality (and thus my "look") changes on a daily basis..I'd do Cloak & Comme one day, vintage & Vans the next..Must be my inner-Gemini talkin'...But yes, jeans it will (and MUST) be! Thanks!

Curious: a brown coat? I havent thought about that one..and I just bought a brown coat about 3 weeks ago--perfect timing! You're a lamb..

Trophy, now, I am a conservative or "classic" dresser, so take that into consideration. In my opinion, I didn't like that combination at all, I found it jarring with the different prints and colors.

I find that I like bright things like that sweater in moderation. That sweater is going to get attention, so I wouldn't wear anything to compete with it. I'd wear it with black. If anything not black, the color should be the same as a color found in the sweater.

Ida, those boloros always seem to me like they should be worn over simple, flowy dresses. (maybe wrap dresses? Something with a lot of loose folds...) With a black one, a red dress would seem nice to me.

I'm gonna try that. I don't have a red dress (look awful in red), but I have a blue pleated dress and a black 1920's chiffon-dress.

Do you think it would work with skirts, or long-sleeved tops?
