I have got this Vivienne Westwood oversize jacket in the sale
I think I am going to wear it with a long t shirt in black, black leggins (maybe a latex one) and black heels. But it's a bit boring to pair it with head to toe black, any of you guys have better ideas?
Thanks in advance!

oh wow, no that def not sounds boring, but I'd pair it with latex ones. gosh I'm yeallous you're gonna look super beautiful!! :flower:

vamp: That's a WONDERFUL jacket, i'd wear it myself. I would pair it with head to toe grey, grey skinnyjeans and a grey v-neck tee (possibly with some cute details like sequins for a contrast), a big, black scarf and some black heels.

Fashionistas, I need your help!

What should I wear with the following dresses? It's for a wedding in January and it's gonna be cold, so tights and cardigan are a must.

Cardigan worn open. The purple shoes add a little "funk" too the red cardigan, while the necklace makes it less fun and more dramatic. The missoni-tights work very well with everything and a patentleather clutch was the only suitable choice to this outfit IMO. It's fun, serious, dramatic and special.I love it!

Alternative to a cardigan:
Long leather theater gloves
and a short bolero/jacket
stacks upon stacks of pearl (Carrie SATC)

Great suggestions, LVizo and Hanne!! I love the red cardigan and the idea of wearing a short jacket or bolero. Love the shoes too!

Question 1: Should I wear a black cover-up instead of a red or ivory (some people I asked IRL suggested ivory or white)?

Question 2: What do you think of pairing the dress with black opaque or patterned tights? How about grey tights?

Question 3: Black cardigan/jacket/bolero with red shoes? Yes/no?

Question 4: I like the first dress better than the 2nd, mainly because it's more suitable for my height (I'm only 5' 2"). Can the above mentioned suggestions work with the first dress as well?

Thanks for all your help!!!

Question 1: Should I wear a black cover-up instead of a red or ivory (some people I asked IRL suggested ivory or white)?

Reply: I would go with the red if you wear some colourful shoes. If you wear metallic or black, then i would go with purple or black cardi. A white cardigan with black dress is a way to sharp contrast.

Question 2: What do you think of pairing the dress with black opaque or patterned tights? How about grey tights?

Reply: Both black, grey AND patterned sounds great. I would go with patterned as the other two options could be a little boring.

Question 3: Black cardigan/jacket/bolero with red shoes? Yes/no?

Reply: No. IMO, a whole-black outfit with one red element is also a too sharp contrast. If you use a purple/other colour cardi with the red shoes it's OK. Remember a black purse. Shoes and bag in a colour will be too matchy and/or clowny

Question 4: I like the first dress better than the 2nd, mainly because it's more suitable for my height (I'm only 5' 2"). Can the above mentioned suggestions work with the first dress as well?

Reply: Yes, i would think so. I don't know the price on nay of them, but the first one looks way cheaper than the first one.

^ i pretty much agree with the above

I would go with a red cover up

I would go for patterned tights, or grey, just not boring black

No to back cardigan with black dress, but yes to red shoes, but I would go metalic if you wear red coverup

Definitely!

^^^^ Thanks so much for your replies, LVizo, why_fashion and aris!

I think I'm leaning towards black or red cardi with patterned tights, but what kind? Vertical stripes or chevron? As for shoes, I'm leaning towards metallic.

Here's another thought: black dress, black cardigan, and black patterned tights. What color shoes should I wear?

I plan on wearing a shirt and tie with this jacket. What color pants would you wear with this jacket (other than any shade of brown)?

Allius: A little shiny, superskinny midnightblue.

"

Metallic or black.

Allius - i think the jacket would look great with blue like it's been said, but i think i'd love to see it paired with dark/olive green, cream or even a bordeaux/red-ish brown. the reason why i picture these colors looking good with the jacket it's because in the close-up pic you posted you can see these colors on some of the threads. maybe that's a little wild for your taste, so it totally depends on that, and obviously where your going and at what time. :flower:

^^^
Actually, I love the reddish brown idea. I am experimenting vintage clothing and its colors because I was trying to the "look" from the F/W 2006 ads from Yves Saint Luarent.

Which pair of shoes looks better with the black dress?

dress color: black
cardigan color: ivory/cream, red or black
tights color: opaque black or semi-opaque black

I'm almost there, please help!

mjfan - what kind of jewelry and bag will you be carrying?
I think that makes all the difference in which shoe and color cardi will work...
so it will all pop together!!

without knowing that - i'm partial to the navy pump out of the two... very pretty :D

Curious, I haven't decided as to what jewelry and bag I'll be wearing but I'm leaning towards not carrying any bag at all. What do you recommend?

Both shoes are purple, the second one is a darker purple, was that the one you were referring to?

My husband seems to think semi-opaque tights work better with the outfit but I hate how uneven in color they look on my legs.
