I keep all the good magazines for allready more than 10 years im doing that, here are two pictures that were taken by a dutch magazine that though it was a great hobby that i had, but they forget if you have to change from house it is terible :D.
On the pictures you see maybe 50 procent of the collection.
The last time when i counted the magazines and catalogs i had around 3500.
I wish i collected stamps :p
i have near that
but i collect only fashion

i just [ile myn up then when it gets to high i start again and sort out the out pile and store them away. i have a friend who buys a magazine ever day nearly .. and she puts them in a pile .. her piles for this year is taller then her nearly lol :P

I have a bookshelf in my room w/like about 6 years worth of magazines. I really want to get rid of them cuz they're driving me insane, but like a lot of the people here, I can't bare to do it :( I always find it entertaining to look back and see at the clothes that I thought were cool back then as opposed to what's going on now.

& Peter, your collection is CRAZY! I love it though! lol

How do you all organize everything? I'm steadily getting so much I don't know what to do with anything. Especially the ad campaigns. :o

I put things in page protectors in 3 ring binders (1" so they're not too heavy, white so they all look nice in a bookcase, Staples loves me!!) and have them broken up by subject: for instance, Chanel HC show fall 06, Chanel ads, Chanel articles and misc pictures (like at parties and so on) and would then have a Chanel Cruise 07 book, Fall 06 book and so on...I try to limit myself to Chanel and Ralph Lauren material but sometimes other things creep in... I also have Model books (various whomever) and books for favs like any Valentina pictures I find or Christy Brinkley, ect... I also try to keep editorials I like in a season book, like Spring 06 and so on...You end up with a lot of small books but you can throw out lots of magazines and only keep what is meaningful and can find things pretty easily... I do, however have a never to be touched Vogue collection to keep for good, I usually buy a second copy to tear up and toss...
Maybe this will be of some help...I think medication would help me as well!!OCD victims, unite!!!

^Unite indeed!

That is exactly how I organize my ads...

Picture taken by me :)

Wow, that method is getting quite tempting! Thanks! :flower: Right now I've got all things Angela seperated from the rest, one highly labelled folder for every editorial I've saved, and my ad campaigns are all lumped together by season. The ad campaigns are what I'm unhappy with. :ermm:

I haven't figured out what to do with the magazines I actually don't tear up either.

Faith, I stole your idea and am starting to use binders. (I have lots of random ads floating around. I think it was you who said they had an X-acto knife so I went and got one and have sliced up a couple mags. :))

I save all of mine and then go back on them to look for refence and poses for my art work.

Well, I keep 3-ring binders organized by model. I generally use the models.com lists as a reference, then collect each model's work for each season. I'm just finishing up S/S 06 and I have five 1.5 inch binders, about 1000 pics. I love reading this thread; it makes me feel like I'm not quite so strange to spend as much time and money as I do on this stuff!!

I only save my Vogues and then randomly every 4 months or so I will spend 3 days continually lasting a couple hours or so flipping through all of the fashion ediotrials reminscing. It's quite enjoyable.

That whole binder with protective sleeves is such a good idea for ads. I couldn't cut out the editorials but ads I would just so I could see the evolution of each designers portfolio. Maybe sometime in the future I will do that.

^Just another tip - if I ever do cut out editorials (e.g. For the purpose of scanning), I keep the photographs all in one protective sleeve (post-usage) just so no pages get lost :)

So true! I seem to have more shoots without a title page or just the right half of a 2 page spread!!
Also, my eternal question: Why won't Vogue put somewhere who the models in it's editorial pieces are? I go crazy every time trying to identify them, often I can see I know then but have to do research to find a name...

BTW, OCD continues: I print up a small text box in Word with the models name and Vogue May 2006 or whatever and paste it on the title page- I figure some day down the road I will have no idea who or what these pictures are!!!
