What do you do with your fashion mags?

I save my Vogue, Elle & Vanity Fairs. Put them in boxes and make sure my mom doesn't throw them away.
From the rest I cut out the ads and put them on my wall, closet, dayplanner. ETC....

I usually keep them in boxes, organise them by seasons. I simply can't throw them out. I reckon I'm too obsessive with my mags... :D And I could never tear them or "maim" them in any other way. I just can't...:p I'm trying to find a good magazine shelf/folder that could keep my mags organised so I could refer to them whenever I needed to. Anyone know any good brands providing those kinds of stuff?

Staples has some really beautiful wooden (oak I think) magazine files which are great but VERY expensive..like $22 each!!! I saw them but it would be out of the question unless you were Anna Wintour...!!;) I'd need something like 50 of them... Playboy used to sell beautiful leather slipcases for back issues, maybe we need a letter writing campaign to Vogue to offer the same thing- Somebody must make them. I should Google this and report back...

darn I have the same problem .. my mom thinks i should throw away all my magazine because it is taking over my whole room and she says its a fire hazzard. I think im going to keep all my Numeros and Italian Vogues:heart: and everythign else goes in plastics

I need a therapist- I have separation anxiety from when I throw out my magazines. I cant do it. What if I need them one day? You never know!

But I need to start getting rid of some. I have seen a couple of silverfish in my room and they freak me out!

There's a company (on the internet) called Bags Umlimited and they sell backing boards (cardboard) and poly bags you tape up and can label or whatever- They help preserve the mags and tell everyone else how serious you are so that they stop telling you to throw them out! And you can still read them anytime...Good investment, although they're not a lot of money anyway... They also have storage boxes you can stack in a closet or whatever...Just a thought...:flower:

PACK RATS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!

I just horde them :innocent: I have a hard time if I have to tear an article or a picture out. Currently, my magazines are spread over my entire room. On my bed, the table, and everwhere else. I can't even bring myself to throw away magazines I didn't even like very much.

I need one of those clear boxes like they have at the library, specially made to hold magazines. I definetly can't let it run amok any longer.

Do they prevent Silverfish?

I would think so if you tape up the flap and don't just fold it over...Never had any problem with mine and I live right on the water..

This looks pretty handy for holding magazines. I'll have to check it out

What do I do?

Picture taken by me

I collect ads ;) So every single one of my magazines is sliced up nicely!

Here is my collection when I first started the recent (failed) organization of my magazines... Keep in mind some are double stacked. (Like under the purple basket, there is a pile behind the one showing)

I ripped out a lot of pages from a few American Vogues and put them in a binder. But I really need to go through and throw a lot away. I'm still not sure what to do with the rest of my magazines. Packrat-ism makes me nauseous. But throwing away my Italian Vogues would give me seperation anxiety. I really don't know what to do.

For the longest time, I kept my magazines... but once I started moving around, I found it to be most realistic to just toss them. But that's not to say that I don't rip out of them what I want..

Here's how I do it. I have sixteen magazine subscriptions. I rip out and toss (immediately) the non-fashion magazines... Self, Traveler, Forbes, Glamour, Lucky, Allure...

...And fold down the corners and keep (for a while) the fashion ones... Bazaar, Vogue, W, Instye, Elle...

Good system, I rip up the celeb and non fashion mags but keep the Vogues; my ultimate psycho goal is to have all of the Anna issues, which would be from her taking over the magazine; since 9/89 I'm pretty sure. E Bay is a curse, and since shipping cost is a big issue for magazines this heavy, I tend to buy in lots, 4 or six at a time to cut down on cost. Now, however, I have dups of many and use those for ads for the binders and the editorials I like and/or models I follow (an ever growing group...) I know it's strange but I do enjoy it and don't really care if others think I'm crazy; our quirks are what make us interesting and unique! My cousin's wife collects Absolut vodka and milk ads...this even I don't appreciate, to each his own!!

I always edit them each season: whats stays & what goes? I always keep iD, V, Gap Press & Collezioni (I cant pitch those--you know expensive those are?)...but magazines like Vogue & HarpersBazaar, I'll post a Free Fashion Magazines on craigslist, and somebody will always take them off my hands..

^^ Love the Target magazine holders...Now if I can find room for 800 of them!!!
