What to wear to a job interview

In my opinion, a blouse in a lovely, delicate fabric is perfect...
Great suggestion; such a top is so versatile and you described some possible outfit options quite well! :flower: I myself have been trying to amass a small collection of lovely blouses to wear at the office.

I'm 16 and I want a job at this new restaurant, and I don't have a blazer that fits me! I did, but I bought it a couple years ago and it's tight in the shoulders now. Does anyone know where to get a nice, simple, inexpensive blazer as well as a dress shirt (the ones I have now are kind of small) for a petite person such as myself? I've got navy denim slacks and black boots, if that helps...

i thought i'd share this with everyone. :D yellow wool cardi, black tube dress and emerald classique bbag. my work's semi formal. it's autumn here and yeap, i'm still just answering phones :flower:

Dressing for an interview @ film company

Tomorrow I have my first interview EVER! It's at a film company, and it's for an internship. I'm super nervous, because it's my first interview and I don't really know what to expect. What should I wear? I'm going to go shopping tonight for my outfit, so I need help ASAP! Thanks! B)

I'm going out shopping in like an hour, so can someone tell me if this is a good idea?

I'm thinking of buying a black dress to wear to the interview and pairing it with some black flats and a red over-the-shoulder bag. Is a black dress too boring though? Am I going to be forgettable in that?

A black dress with flats isn't too boring at all. Don't get like really really dressed up as I've found that most film companies esp. smaller production houses have very casual dress codes. Go for something quirky with your accessories maybe to spice up the black dress. A red bag sounds like a good idea.

And good luck on the interview!!!!

I'm going for a 2 day interview with a large pharmaceuticals company for an internship. I'm 19 and this is my first job interview ever! The dress code is "business casual" and "business dress" (location: UK).

I'm willing to splash out a little on a nice trouser/skirt suit...I'm thinking dark grey with perhaps a hunter green or white shirt.

1) What the heck is business casual??? Can I wear say a sleeved black knee length wrap dress and black pumps with say a colourful necklace and black purse?

2) Should I bring a briefcase or will a black leather tote do?

Thank you!

^ I think "business casual" means you don't wear the whole, professional suit, so just wear like a dress shirt and trousers and nice shoes. The black leather tote will be fine if it matches your outfit and if your outfit is neat, and professional-looking in general.

Hope that helps!

i interviewed at a fashion pr firm in ny--- i lost mucho points by being too professional. whats key when seeking a position inthe industry---is always be fashionable. display an understanding of the current trends in silhouette,---and if yo are wearing color, let it be intentional and with flair. when in doubt pull out the black.

Thanks guys. I will have to go shopping tomorrow then, might as well drop by topshop...and...mango...and...oh...bond street :brows:

would something cut like this, in charcoal with a pastel shirt be okay for "business casual"?

cool thread

well, for guys I find the tie & suite is quite boring & i can't express my self through them :( , you girls can have more variations than us.

i think depending on the job you can experiment with color and show your personality in shoes and glasses

I have a job interview at a store called Mendocino on Monday... its a 'fashion forward' kinda store. Now the thing is, do I wear my 'trendy' type of clothes or should I be a bit more proper? I don't want to seem too casual but at the same time I don't want to look like I'm going for an office job.. I have a feeling its going to be a group interview..which I hate lol...soo any suggestions?
