What to wear to a job interview

When I had an interview at BCBG ,last year, I wore this:

Something like this

(Forever21.com) (netaporter) (Keds)
I was actually going out afterwards but also brought a pair of dressy sandal wedges just in case.

They also like layering, when I went on the floor I had to wear 3 pieces and basically would wear mostly all black (dress pants, a blouse, and a sweater over it).

what to wear to a fashion showroom interview

i have an interview with a showroom to be an assistant..what do i wear? a suit or a cute trendy dress?

^ I agree. I was told before that you don't exactly have to wear the line but try to duplicate the look or incorportate somethings. I would actually just ask them, look at what everyone else has on, or just go for the safe root and wear all black. Maybe google some images of people who work in that undustry and see what they have on.

^ Or look around at the current and past seasons online, both on retail sites, style.com, etc. ...

but the problem is when you working in fashion industry, the looks does matters.

I would wear something that you are comfortable with- like your favorite outfit. It's really important to feel confident and comfortable in your clothes on an interview.

I'm a graphic designer shopping around for a new job. I've never been much of a suit wearer for interviews, the nature of my positions haven't been terribly formal, but I am meeting with a CEO and I have a feeling he'll want something a bit more professional than I've been in the past.

How do you dress up a gray suit so it doesn't look... average? I still want to have personality.

Advice?

Like they all say: dress for the job, dress like the people from their company and just a slice bit more formal.

A really great scarf? Beautiful pin on the lapel?

I'm a bit late here, but I'd say a white ruffle blouse would look stunning, especially with a pant suit. It gives it something new but not too much or too over the top.

I have a job interview tomorrow at Lucky Brand Jeans... considering their style, I wasn't sure if a typical "interview outfit" was appropriate.
Ideas?

I agree ... do you own any of their stuff? You might want to be careful about wearing anything identifiable as by a brand they consider a direct competitor ... can someone speak to whether this kind of thing is operational in the fashion world?

I used to work for a company with Pepsi as a client, and they freaked when a manager walked down the hall with a can of something they hadn't made :innocent:

fashionista-ta , great idea !
I actually never thought about that competitor things.
But i usually wear a better level than the products from the company i'm interviewing, or at least something very neutral.

Do you think below outfit is approprate for a fashion house job interview at now a June season ?

And which one do you think it's better ?

I can see them now ...

I would say the outfit looks very young ... I would go for something more sophisticated for an interview, unless it's retail and the store specifically promotes this look.

The full plaid skirt kind of evokes a school uniform ... it looks more like play than work.

Thanks for your opinion! yeah, me myself think it too, but this is 1st time im interviewing for some kind of more trend-involved job like a buyer, so i try to cheer up a bit from my odinary idea of interview, though i worked inside the industry for few years now, but i still holding a very young ID card, this also make me feel like i should try to light up a bit. Confusing.....

Thanks again, Fashionista-ta.
I just ironed my shirt, i think you r right.
I should be confident for my skills and experience, and they can't blame me for being young.
