What to Wear to a Rock Concert...

Great suggestions everyone! Lately it's been a lot of indie-rock shows. We're seeing Morrissey this Friday. I have all of these photos of me and my friends from concerts, and I was getting bored with the jeans, tshirt, converse look after looking at them. :P

Wear flowers in the back pocket of your jeans old school morrissey style (smiths era) :P

I don't wear anything too special, cause it'll just get ruined and i don't like ruining my clothes!

indeed  . I wore a pink knitted cardigan when I went to a concert last march and it came back all drapped, with this horrid smell of marijuana and human stuff

Eeee! Yes!!

btw- this is a nighttime concert, given the indecisiveness in the fashion area... i never put much work into day concert attire.

Ew.
I went to Vans Warped Tour and was moshing, when I bumped into this girl who obviously just dyed her hair bright purple the night before. She was dripping purple sweat on my favorite Banana Republic argyle sweater! [Note: If you plan on changing hair color, please do so at least a week before your event! or you run the risk of the color running, especially when you sweat heavily! Arrrgh.]

I gave her a good shove, then said "Whoa! Someone just pushed me dude! Sorry." Haha. Joke was on her. I just wanted to get her drippy *** away from me.

Wo0t.

Though I know everyone wants to look good wherever they go, I think it's kind of tacky to plan the perfect outfit for a rock show... especially if it involves a lot of people with a lot of pushing, shoving, moshing, etc. I think the only thing you really need to think of is being comfortable... and wearing clothes you won't mind getting dirty/damaged. But I guess at "indie" shows it'll be ok to wear your better stuff. It's usually full of people standing with their arms crossed and/or people who are there to also show off their scene outfits  But they look good anyway.

Well, I guess it would be fun to mimic the musician for the show. Years ago, I saw the smashing pumpkins and people dressed like the tonight tonight video. It was cool. When I went to see the White Stripes, I was decked out in red and white... down to my underwear haha.

and poor banana republic sweater  But what on earth are you doing wearing that to the warped tour?! it's hot and bound to get messed up!

it depends

Mostly i go to punk shows wich means lots of bodys pounding into each other, usual super skinny balck pants or jeans, studed belt, lots of bracelets, diffrent t shirts i make.

Haha, no kidding.
Bad judgement on my part.
Given that this was several years ago, I really didn't know any better! :ninja:
But I was actually there to meet a band, and wanted to look somewhat presentable.

Once the music started pumping, and the drinks started flowing, I forgot all about my cute sweater and jumped right into the pit. And there she was, drippy purple hair girl.
From then on, no more sweaters of ANY kind to shows.
Hehe.

You are going to flip out! I saw him the other night and he was SO great!!!

As far as what to wear....there were people dressed in just about everything. It is Morrissey, so you won't be in the pit or anything. He played here in an old refurbished theatre so it has a classy feel to it anyway and I think people here kind of dressed a little nicer. Where is he playing in ATL? I'm so jealous, I'd love to see him again. Wednesday night was not enough.
As for what he wears, it's all YSL, so he looks sharp. The band will probably be wearing kilts and some sort of tshirt that says Georgia or Atlanta. Nice to look at, especially the drummer Deano. But Morrissey is so sexy, it's hard to take your eyes off of him.

morrissey waers more gucci than ysl but he does sport both.
yes hes the sexiest man alive, or that i can think of anyway.
jude law is not 1/10th the man that morrissey is. i love him

i never think just go in what ever feels confortable .. i normally wear a strappy top or something cool inside with a light cardi or hoodie or something to wear over on way home .. i always wear flats .. but something thats gonna cover my foot slightly .. lost track of how many times ive come home with footprints on my feet cos ive been wearing ballet flats... and i always have a little bagthat goes across my body safer and easer and i can drape my hoodie or cardi or what ever through it whilst i dance or mosh or whatever

NEVER EVER wear shoes that you love. honestly wear the most comfortable shoes you have that you don't mind getting slightly ruined.

i went to a concert with my BRAND NEW SUEDE vans and some guy spilled beer on them, i stepped in vomit and got burnt by some cigarette ashes....needless to say my shoes were beyond crap afterwards! i just chucked them in the trash. learn from my mistake people! learn from my mistake!

converse are excellent concert/mosh pit shoes. the plastic cap will protect your tootsies. I like wearing a few dark tanks layered and bring a light hoodie if its chilly outside, but inside it gets hot quick so you can tie it about your waist.

Anything as long you don't care if it gets dirty, smelly, squished, or ripped!

I kinda like planning my outfit for shows too even if it is a little tacky to do so. Just since I know my friends will take pics and I don't get out much so I want to look cute.

one thing - don't wear heels with a covered heel! Too many times I've come home to be devasted by finding the leather on my heels torn and scraped off the heel part. It's so saddening that I've come to the point where I won't buy covered heels anymore. I stick to stacked.

and it does depend on the music. SOmetimes more glam sometimes more laid back sometimes more edgy... I usually go online for photos of previous concerts to see what style people used and wear something that works with that style. But in my own way of course.:flower:

I need some help here...my friend invited me to go with her to see a rock band called "Brand New"..does anyone recommend what to wear? The only other times I've been to rock concerts it was backstage, and this one isn't, so I'm not exactly sure what to wear. Has anyone ever seen them? Is it OK to wear anything? Or is it kind of rough? lol. I'm not looking to ruin my clothing anytime soon.
