What to wear to prom or homecoming

I have this beautiful vintage dress for my grad, so for aftergrad I want to totally shock everyone and have a rocker chic crazy type of dress...really sexy, but not too over the top...anyone have any suggestions?

and what else could boys wear to grad other than a tuxedo that wouldn't be too outrageous?

It's not floor-length and I am not budging on that requirement.

For some people prom is the only formal they ever go to-and for some they'll go to homecoming but it's a semi-formal. With homecoming it's generally more acceptable to wear a shorter-maybe even knee-length-gown because it's not as fancy. Prom however is the first formal I'm going to, as well as many kids I know, and it's imperative to dress it. There's a difference between "formal" and "cocktail" for me and the plaid falls in the latter category.

Although one of the new Sorbier HC gowns appeals to me.

adn im consider a rich girl in my school... of chorse i love in oklahoma,... there's a little difference there....

my fave thing i took to prom was my date...

Well my prom, 10th grade my dress was cute (cuter when i bought it back then...now..eh) Last years, it was a bridesmaid dress from my sisters wedding, but it was beautiful...just alittle to plain for me... so this year i bought a wedding dress (dont think im crazy, i have known a bunch of girls who do this) and its creamish anyways but i got it for $50 so i couldnt help it! But ill post pics of it when the night comes our prom is not for a while!

my prom was just last june and i was kinda going for the elegant look ala jackie kennedy. tasteful yet sexy. not sure if i was completely happy with the end result though. i got my makeup done by clinique, but it wasn't the greatest. the eye makeup was too heavy at the top, so it kinda weighed down my eyes a bit and i thought my teeth were pretty white that day, but they turned out to be horribly yellow in all of my pictures. i loved my hair though because no one had anything similar to it:

For junior prom I wore a green dress with gold accents.
For senior year winterformal, I wear a gorgeous black silk dress, I loved it!
And now my last formal in high school...I still don't know yet. But I'm looking for something backless!

Nice dresses but..either sold out or not my size.

Oh and btw in our school we have 'prom' every year..but we just call it the Summer Ball. So yeah we all celebrate our 'achievements' and the graduation of the older students..basically the whole school is invited + parents. So I'm not sure it's actually proper prom.

I had to look sooo hard to find a special dress.. and i found a little shop that ships in dresses from countrys all over the world.and they only got one of each dress, so i know nobody is wearing the same dres
I do have to get some shoes to match.. so the shopping goes on
