Which Model(s) Have You Met In Person?

I met Hanne outside Dries today, anyone who sees how much I post in her thread can guess how exciting that was for me haha. She was super nice, got way more attention than any other model there but didn't seem like she was in a a posing mood. Not very tall in person but really striking

I agree, you look great dsamg in the picture, thank you for sharing it! You've been lucky to capture this moment because Hanne is not the easier model to approach since there is always tons of photographers around her!

^ if you watch a video on yt you can see she constantly takes pics for people, stops next to her car...i guess there is only a certain amount you can do before you'll be there all day

For those of you who have seen a lot of models in person, who would you say was the most striking and who the least?

Certain models look to me like they just wear makeup really well (without it they wouldn't be so special), while others I can tell probably look great in person but aren't exceptionally photogenic.

One model I've wondered about is Barbara Palvin. Part of me thinks she might just look like a normal girl in person. (I'm a fan of her regardless, but this is something I've wondered about.)

I've never met any professional models in person, but I've met former (catalogue) models and aspiring models, and they're striking people.

I think Natasha, Alessandra, Rosie and Arlenis were the most striking. They definitely turned heads on the red carpet.

I saw Barbara twice, once on the red carpet, she looked beautiful and all glammed up, and once in front of her hotel where she had simple a ponytail. Her face definitely shines among the rest even if I always thought she had a baby face. I personally think she looks more like the beautiful chick from High School who gets all the boys than a model.

Uhmmm, I'd say it depends a little on what kind of striking you're referring to. I must say I found a lot of models rather better looking in person (I mean more often better looking, than worse looking) and I found really many incredibly charismatic. Aymeline Valade comes to my mind here, she's got such a strong presence (I once even saw her just walking down the street), and, this summer, Steffy Argelich whom I hadn't really had on my radar until then. Aymeline also IMO looks kind of softer in real life, if that makes sense. And I never got Arizona Muse until I saw her in person. Also Diana Moldovan looks really beautiful, while in pictures you might overlook her sometimes, I'd say.

Then a lot of those Paris high fashion models have those extremely rare proportions (I'M not just refering to what we're not allowed to talk about, but also literally "proportions") and very strong facial features. THis does not sound very surprising, but I actually found it a lot more remarkable when I saw them in perseon. And they are often still wearing the make-up after the show, and have all attention focused on them, which makes them really striking, even if many people on the street may not find them very pretty.

This makes me think of another thing: those tourists (often German-speaking...) who happen to bump into a fashion week crowd really love to stop and complain how stupid all that was and how "ugly" all the girls looked, but I occasionally heard them say something like "ok, this one for a change looks really gorgeous" and I remember it was the case with Larissa Hofmann, Melissa Tammerijn and that red-haired girl named Anastasia (I can't think of her last name right now). Also I saw Grace Bol leave a show and I was kind of speechless because she looked so gorgeous and then someone next to me was like "OMG you look beautiful!".

Don't know if this belongs to this question but when I saw Lily Donaldson for the first time I was a little surprised because her face looked really - well - special. I somehow had thought she was more "conventionally" beautiful, IMO she's a mix of beautiful and a little elfish-strange (which is a good mix :D).

The least striking..., I think I was never "disappointed" by someone I had liked from pictures, but during last year I did not care that much for many of the very young girls, but it's probably due to their age. I don't know if it's fair to say names here, but when you see them in person you notice how young they really are, which makes me feel a little awkward. Also a celebrity-model comes to my mind (not Kendall) but I had never found her that good looking in pictures and moreover think she's not quite that kind of girl that people would describe as "oh so beautiful".

Thanks, Oxymore and Mrs.Smith! That's really interesting.

Thanks for the info on Barbara, Oxymore. I'm just curious about her because to me she seems like one of the few models who might actually be better in photos than in real life (again, I am a fan, I've just noticed that in interviews she doesn't have the same effect as in photos).

And I totally understand your desire to not name names regarding who looks worse in person, Mrs.Smith. :)

I've never thought Lily Donaldson was that conventional looking, so I'm not surprised by your comment. Great model, but not a conventional beauty IMO.

I also have an idea of which celebrity-model you are referring to, and I'm not surprised she doesn't look stunning in person. Kendall, on the other hand, I assume is very beautiful in person - probably more so in person than in pictures, actually.

When I saw Olga last year she was really really striking, I didn't ever love her that much but WOW.

The most striking recently was probably Rianne van Rompaey. I mean shes literally an angel in disguise.

I remember when Andrej (before surgery & name change) came to DNA, and I was in awe. He had a glow about him ive never seen before.

other models I remember because of their presence and looks are Freja, Stella Tennant, Liya Kebede, Jourdan Dunn, Edita, Magdalena Frackowiak, Daria Werbowy, Kristen McMenamy, Aymeline Valade, Vanessa Axente, Saskia, Lais, Grace Mahary, Adriana Lima, and Maryna.

Each girl was different, but the one that stood out the most was probably Daria. She is manages to make looking like a disheveled teen boy look so sexy and beautiful. The way she dresses is so relaxed, yet you know everything she has on has a really cool story to it or it means something to her.

A few people now have said Daria is really striking in person. I've always really liked her.

Edita is another name I've seen a few times...and Magda. Again, not surprising - those girls are gorgeous. :)

I dunno I've always heard bad things about Daria if you go through this thread from the beginning

i think he/she referred to daria strokous not werbowy. i don't think anyone has even one single bad thing to say about werbowy.

I don't know if this is the best thread to post this but I'm going to Milan fashion week next week to meet models after the shows. As I'm going alone I've been wondering if there are any tfsers who are going to be there and are willing to meet me :D I haven't been to any fashion week in five years, I wonder how it all changed and how all the new models look like in person ^_^
