White & Green tea

i tried white tea in an asian restaurant once and it basically tasted like water, only more bitter:S

also a waiter at another restaurant once told me to never drink green tea on an empty stomach, as its rly unhealthy and u could faint. Is there any truth to this? Cuz ive done it loads of times and nothings ever happened to me!!

i drink green tea first thing in the morning before breakfast and i have never fainted. i guess it all depends on the person.

*i also started drinking white tea. so now, i drink both green and white. B)

I just bought this honeydew flavored white tea, and its soooo good!!

Republic of Tea is the best tea--hands down. The other white tea flavors they have are:
Orange Blossom
Ginger Peach
Asian Jasmine
Pinapple Guava
Honeysuckle
Persimmon
Vanilla Coconut
Kiwi Pear
and Plain White Tea

I want to try all the other flavors so bad! Has anyone here tried any?

what brands of white and/or green tea are there out there that anyone knows of that i could find at a grocery store within the u.s.?

I sooo agree :flower: One of the restaurants in my city introduced me to the brand last year. Ginger Peach is the only one I've had so far, just a bit sweet but flavorful - more of a peach aftertaste. There is one specialty grocer near me that does stock Republic of Tea, but only a couple of flavors. I'd really like to try the Pineapple Guava and Persimmon.

i don't think there's any truth to this. solids don't sit well with me for the first couple of hours after i wake - but i usually have a cup or two of green tea every morning and it's fine.

umm.. you can find Lipton at pretty much any store. Its not organic and its not 100% white tea (they use a mixture of different teas, because its cheaper). But I've had the Premium White Tea (the pyramid shaped tea bags) in blueberry/pomegranete flavor and its really good! They also have a Island Mango and Peach flavor.

thank you! i'll have to try the island mango. yum. :flower:

I haven't had tea for a very long time. (Not counting that cup of Ceylon/black tea I had last week.) I went to the grocery store today to look for white or rooibos tea, but there weren't any so I just got a package called "Japanese Green Tea" and it contains matcha. I've tried a few other green tea brands before, but I always had to drown them in honey because they tasted so bitter. I was surprised when this tea wasn't bitter. I don't need honey at all. It's really nice. :D

Target sells some pretty good teas (if your Target has food). I've bought Tazo tea there before and it was good. Target's own food brand (something Pantry I think) looks good, though I haven't tried it.

I love green tea but it always manages to float to the back fo my cupboard, I recently bought some white tea which I've been meaning to try for some time.

EDIT: BTW I have Clipper brand white tea which is organic and cost about £1 for 25 bags, a cheaper alternative to Origins brand. (Sorry if this has been mentioned I didn't read through all the pages).

Charlotte Gainsbourg said that she drinks "Genmaicha" green tea "all day". Any reviews on any particular brand? Do you know where to buy it?

I read somewhere that it has rice in it:

YamaMotoYama makes good Genmai-cha and it's available in a lot of U.S. supermarkets. It's green tea with roasted brown rice...so it's nutty and a bit more intense than regular green tea.

Green and white tea are my favorite. I love drinking hot tea after a heavy meal.

The Lipton White Tea with the hint of tangerine/nectarine (some type of -rine fruit) tastes horrible! I really hate it, but it still makes me wonder what white tea tastes like. Since I've only consumed white tea cold, are there tea bags for a hot white tea?

OMG! i thought I was the only one hating the taste of that tea:doh:
I can't even explain what it tastes like
