why do you like/ hate marc jacobs?

 what does being gay has to do with his collections? we dont need this here..

kindly avoid stereotyping its somehow against tFS community rules

Is he gay? Because he's attractive.

Lena, not sure if you were referring to my post ... it was in answer to Ninja Pirate's question above.

Marc did mention in his recent New York magazine interview that he was looking for someone new and would like interested parties to drop him a note--I hope he finds someone great, he deserves it  :flower:

i think he is talented and i very much like his work but i do not see the huge popularity surrounding him. i also think it is fine that menswear doesnt appear to him but he shouldnt take the credit for all of his collection if he doesnt do the menswear

meh. i think it's kind of lame he's hired a team to create his menswear line, but his items are always fabulous. i love his use of color especially for his marc by marc line. but even the marc line is gorgeous. i love the dark purples and navy that he used for the fall line.

i feel like his work is slipping a bit recently, and i dislike his assosciation with LV...... but i do feel that he has a great amount of talent

I admire the fact that Marc juggles so many collections and so forth. As for his designs, I love the Marc by Marc line and Marc Jacobs has some eccentric pieces that would definitely go along with my wardrobe. Too bad I can only afford a few pieces.

hate the menswear-
marc quality awful
mainline overpriced- shocked to see a rather plain ribbed sweater today in liberty's for close to £1000 and £900 for a leather sleeved baseball jacket!

and it's also quite dull....

Hate. The quality sucks. Worn their jeans for like 3 months and the inner pockets were already tearing apart. Very dissapointed :(

love mj's footwear... heels, boots, flats. all superb. the cut of his jeans suck though.

Kinda boring..most of the stuff reminds me of Club Monaco or Banana Republic. I'd rather buy D&G.

I only like certain MJ stuff: his stella bag, the lola and tere bags are all gorgeous. I kind of like the new quilted stam but I'm not sure if I'd ever get my hands on it. Kind of too much $ for me. I also have the silver clutch wallet. As far as his clothing goes...I don't really like them. They look to pop-art, anime for my taste. However I do have a navy blue trench coat that I purchased from NM this month that I absolutely love. Other than that I don't care for MJ.

i have a love hate relationship with him. i prefer pieces sold in the "marc" store which are more streetstyle than the marc jacobs. the lady like pieces are just crap.

i dont understand why girls go for clothes from marc jacobs just cause of the name. the piece can be fugly but hey its marc jacobs so it saves the day..
i dont understand how someone can think that way. even my favo designers have bad pieces, i admit that, and avoid buying those pieces just because of the brand...
ive seen far too many girls with ugly jacobs stuff..like bags. but then again same goes with LV, burberry etc.

i like mj or marc to look at.

i dislike mj or marc to buy or to wear.

i view mj as a person more focused on ideas, and less interested in execution and substance. you can see it in the details in the styling and construction, which are pretty blunt compared to similar priced lines.

however, I LOVE THE ADS!!!! that barely-alive girl with the moppy wig is a rock star.

^ I just bought a piece of MJ resort, the collection is more interesting in person, it is made well, but some of the prices I agree are exorbitant for the level of detail ... but I hate hate hate the current ad campaign ...

that's really funny that we have the opposite reaction to the ad campaign. hey- but at least we both feel strongly about it-- i think that is the point of it, right? :D

I never got Marc. His clothes are both too preppy and too weird for my liking; I hate the way he fuses together so many different styles and then tosses on a bunch of weird-*** prints for just for the sake of it. His work at Louis Vuitton is a little bit better, but I still don't "get" the massive hoopla that surrounds his craftsmanship. I dunno; I guess I'm just not that impressed by American designers (with the exception of maybe Tom Ford, but he was designing for an Italian label, so...)

I used to love his clothes. But now whenever I browse through his clothes, I always find one thing about his clothing I don't like... it could be some kind of trim, it could be the puffy cap sleeves, a print he used... it's always one part of the whole garment that I find that I don't like.
