I was surprised that anyone took offense to that interview--guy's just being honest, he doesn't think fashion for men is sexy. Look at how he dresses, clearly he doesn't like high fashion for men--he's no Andre Leon Talley, right? But I like how he looks, and I'm also positive that his personality is absolutely reflected in the clothes he designs. When you work for LVMH, you can say you don't like fashion for men, but you still gotta have a men's line. I've read pretty much every interview of him out there (including the one from Butt magazine or whatever, not exactly on my usual reading list), and after doing so I had more respect for him, not less. But, I am a big fan of honesty :p

i love him. love, love, love.

i dont buy clothes for the designer as much as i do for the design. i really dont care what marc jacobs does or where he works or if he hates or loves poodles or which butt magazine reader he holds hands with.

i like the clothes. i like the bags. i adore the shoes. why should anything else matter?

I say I love Marc:blush: It's definitely emotional. His pieces help me express myself and I feel so different in them :flower:

That sounds really great... I have nothing from Marc Jacobs, but I'm pretty sure that his clothes are as amazing as on the runway ;)

I haven't got anything by Marc Jacobs, but I think some of his designs are great, and I love the shoes

i dont care to do mens clothes either, theres a very well defined line in society today that dictates how far mens clothes can go before you become a '***'

i hate that because i love to express myself through clothes.

just because i AM gay doesnt mean that it should dictate the way i dress, but cant i still have fun with my clothes?

the thing that i dont like about marc jacobs is that his collection in bags under his own name is the same as the ones he's designed with LV... just in solid leathers and canvases without any monogram or detailing.

I know he's with lv but cant he make his own line something unidenticle?

(i also found out last night through some searching around the net that LVMH, louis vuitton's parent company, owns Givenchy, Celine, Marc jacobs, Donna karan, Fendi, Emilio pucci, the website ELuxury.com, and Moet & Chandon and Dom Perignon champagnes.)

I love Marc Jacobs. His designs are not always the most unique but that's not what I'm looking for either. His dresses are extremely feminine and seem to flatter most female figures and the colors that were used in the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring 2004 ready to wear collection were amazing. I also agree with him on the men designs, I like that he's at least honest and that he's not too careful about the way he looks. Everyone has their own opinion...

Chague, you officially have my permission to have fun with your clothes :D

Sure, I totally believe in that, I'm sure it's a big part of the reason why I like Marc. I think the beauty of clothes is that, the vast majority of the time, you don't have to be deadly serious about them. You kinda have to wear them, but it's this great canvas for self-expression (and in my case, amusement :D)

Now as far as the bags, honestly I haven't noticed that at all. The image I have in my mind of most MJ bags is--fat and dumpy, covered in pockets, all soft and round. LV (which I consider vulgar because of all the obvious logo crap), though, seems much more sleek to me. There have been *some* similarities in the runway bags, but that's all I can really think of. I can't figure what you mean, but I'm very interested. Can you post some comparison pix of what you're talking about?

I like him because of his shoes and bags.I also really loved the Marc Jacobs ad campaign's with Kate Moss and Samantha Morton.

I hate him because often, when it comes to his clothes I just can't see what all the fuss is about and I do think he is overrated as a designer. Also I hated the Louis Vuitton ad's with Jennifer Lopez. :yuk:

i really don't have much to say about him, besides that i stand indifferent to his designs, all of it really. i've never put too much thought into it, but i'm sure i don't 'hate' him, fashion rarely brings out strong emotions in me these days. he doesn't think his clothes are sexy perhaps that says something.

There is an extremely appealing aesthetic about his shoes, both from the Marc diffusion and main collection. However, I REALLY don't see all the fuss about the bags. Boring, unoriginal shapes with the same features used over and over again. I just don't get it!

The thing about the clothes is that they're not the most innovative but they're very wearable and have a real mass appeal. I do really like the girlish and fun qualities which the clothes evoke. The prices are also fairly reasonable.

I'm with you on the bags. Innovation is all very well, but I need something to wear in real life, and Marc is great for that  I'm not sure about the prices, though ... once you're used to his (LVMH) prices, very little will shock you ;)

As far as his orientation, my understanding is that yes, he is gay. It would be nice to have a guy who likes and respects women as much as he does batting for our team, but alas ... ;)
