Why is Vogue Australia so bad?

i had a giggle last year when our s/s fashion week was on. AU Harpers Bazaar sponsors the 'daily fashion' type rag to kepp everyone up to date during fshion week and in one story they had a picture of australian Designer Jayson Brunsdon next to a picture of Elber Albaz and they labelled each person the opposite name (they look nothing alike) and directly below them they had seseme st's big bird picture to send up the picture next to it showing one of the designs that featured models in canary yellow dresses - and they did the same thing labeled the models 'Big bird from Sesame St'.... it seems quite insignificant but the fact that these images took up half of the A3 sized page was quite funny.... haha then again i had been waiting for a shows to start all day and i was starting to get a bit hysterical:cry:

whoops a bit of dyslexia in Alber Elbaz's name myself..... anyways... another thing i wanted to say was that australian magazines, in comparison to their UK/ US titles of the same name (cosmo, vogue, marie claire, Instyle etc) have maybe 1/4 of the budget that the os titles do. Sometimes it is a must to poach articles to be able to feature a celebrity people want to read about on the cover (or we'd have Bec Cartwrite every month:yuk: ) AND be able to afford the rest of the magazine - ie fashion/ beauty / health.....

to illustrate the lack of funding:

A friend of mine was flying on a SYD to LA redeye and she found herself sitting next to the CEO of Time inc Australaisa (they publish Instyle and Who among others) ......IN COACH!!! and yes it was actually him... she was very lucky and ended up getting a job out of itB)

Excuse me but their using models now!!!! What about this months Natalia vodianiova cover? I dont kow anyone who cares.. about magazine republishing.. except tfs.. tfs is so obsessive about just MAGAZINE.. its a MAGAZINE.. okk..?? And vogue Australia is actually quite interesting sometimes and the Katie cover was so beautiful..plus.. so what if they RECYCLE? as if that many people in Australia buy US vogue anyways.. and MOST AUSTRALIAN MAGAZINE RECYCLE ARTICLES!!!!

So yea.

Pick up this months vogue australia its quite good!!! And also.. I dont give a sh*t if they recycle.. I love vogue australia xD And if you dont remeber what about the GEMMA issue.. that was quite brilliant.. and theres tonnes of beauty articles and articles in general the are great.. normal people who buy AUS VOGUE .. dont even care much for editorials.. they just look at the clothes..

They dont fudging have as much money anyways.. so who cares.. seriouslyy..

^^ Why are you getting so pissy?
You do realize they copy most of what is inside the magazine as well? I mean Ive bought the magazine many of times but its kinda of depressing if you already have another vogue and didnt realize they copied almost everything in it word-by-word.

I dont read that many foreign magazines.. I like vogue australia.. its notlike everything is from different magazines.. not to mention the fact that its just a MAGAZINE.. jesus people.. my aunty just looks through it and doesnt care that well in last years us vogue this ed was also published and photographed blah blah blah

I like Vogue Aus for following reason,

1. They sometimes (often?) use re-print of editorial from US Vogue and W, but resolution of each pics looks better than that of original.(Or to say resolution of US Vogue pics are very low)

2. They sometimes uses good models that US Vogue seems ignoire, such as Emina C.

I agree. Other editions of Vogue nearly always have new eds... I mean, we're not trying to dislike Vogue Australia. But even if the eds are printed in good quality--it's not theirs. It's reprinted...

And hello! Having Mischa Barton three times does not equal to good choice of covergirls...

This is australian vogue.. and they have a tight budget!!!!!And vogue australia does have new eds.. they also publish republished ones too.. hello?

^^ The new eds are only sometimes... Vogue magazine has alot of money, I think.

Everyone here is just expressing their opinions, it's not as if we hate the magazine. It has potential to be bigger and better. It just needs to discover that potential.

Sedirea is right. Sometimes you just don't enjoy reprints and half-hearted pages. Everyone's just saying what they think here. There's no reason to get angry.

Not all the editorials in Vogue Australia are reprints.
There's actually always one (often two) brand new editorials in each issue, however, they usually don't feature top international models.

My main annoyance is the covers—I would rather see an up-and-coming Aussie model on the cover any day over a reprint of a US Vogue cover.

You do care if you go out and buy OS versions of the mag for like $16 a pop and then buy the australian Vogue 3 months later and find you've just wasted your money as you've already read most of the content.

My favourite thing about the mag is the sort of 'lookalike' buys page that continue on the style of the fashion shoot. They have a great little array of things that you may not come accross in other ways like gorgeous antique chairs, jewellery, cute invitation and even cupcakes (i think this was from Marie Antoinette- style pages a little while ago)

Oh ok.. I'm sorry:doh: :ninja: I can understand that its irritating to those who buy OS magazine and see in Aus vogue..

Thank you, even though we mentioned something along those lines back on page 1.

so kissmesweet I'm guessing you dont buy aus vogue?

I guess I was a bit protective of Aus vogue because I felt it had good content but only soemtimes recycled things but I guess when you brought so much for OS magazine and find out that some of the content was recycled you feel ripped off.. sigh..

It's far enough to be protective... but most of their good content has already been published in other Vogue's.

I remember reading their article on it bags from a few issues ago, only to realise it sounded familiar because I had ready read it in UK vogue. And with my discount subscription, it's almost the same price as Aus vogue but delivered to my door.

Give me UK vogue and the UK vogue website any day.

I love Australian vogue and I never knew that it bag article was from UK VOGUE!! Omgg I loved that article so much , I read it for so many days straight at night teehee >.<" But I don't buy OS mags like most people in this forum so I don't feel ripped off but I get it ... ok so the occasional Paris Vogue but now I'm sticking to my Aussie mags and ok I have to admit a few overseas ones xD

(Disclaimer: I have never read Vogue, nor Vogue Australia)
Perhaps that's the reason why several countries franchise international titles--so people can get their hands on foreign content at a cheaper price. Those who could afford to purchase both the OS and local version of the same title shouldn't be as critical (or feel ripped off) when they see reprinted material, because technically, they didn't do anything wrong. The editors work under the mindset that it's the local edition you'd go for.

Conversely, I could also understand the complaints that some have made here: That Vogue Aus doesn't have an identity of its own. Coming out with a magazine that's a mishmash of its international counterparts does seem very lazy on the part of the editors. By way of example, if I was a reader, I wouldn't mind that half of the stuff already appeared in an international edition, so long as the remaining 50% of the locally produced stuff turn out amazing.

Just my 2 cents. I hope my points made sense. Haha.

An even further stage in the recycling process is when Aussie Vogue gets imported into the UK, and you pick up an issue and see an article you read six months ago in your own edition. By that stage, the content is both unoriginal AND out-of-date.
