Why is Vogue Australia so bad?

I picked April too. This is what I wrote -

In 25 words or less, why do you prefer this cover?
Because it's a MODEL and not a reprint from another magazine. People in Australia read other Vogues. At present Australian Vogue is a waste of money.

I also wrote under address and phone - None of your business. I don't care about the prize. I just want a quality magazine put out each month.

^ you go gurl

i voted for april also - i said because it shows that vogue australia can be original and creative

yay! I voted for april too.
I wrote something about the unique fantasy and whimsical setting of the cover being striking and is the sort of cover that intriques people and persuades them to actually pick up the magazine and buy it.

I'm in Australia right now, and I was just noticing that the current VOGUE cover seems to be W's previous cover with Kirsten Dunst. The same exact photo too. Strange...
It's sort of sad that they won't come up with new eds and covers! Get some ORIGINALITY and stop using reprints!!

^ :argg: They DO come up with new eds! I've said it so many times before. There is only 1 reprint fashion ed in each issue and 2/3 new ones!

i voted for april too!! My reason? Because it was a model AND an original cover! But I still didnt buy it: I lost faith in them some time last year and until they can prove to me that its up to scratch and has consistent good quality... I'm not going to get it!

I would much rather spend my money on magazines whose reporters actually write their own articles and have features all that is season relevant!!

Okay fine, but I still don't think that they are great eds and what bugs me the most are the reprint-covers. (Only April was a model + original cover out of all those to vote for.:(flower:

i don't think vogue aus is as terrible as people make it out to be. sure the covers are a rip off - but ultimately it's about selling magazines and reaching as many people as possible (so mischa is more appealing to the masses than grace small for example). like others have mentioned in this thread, vogue aus don't have the same budget as other magazines. i read somewhere that models in vogue aus editorials get $300 if that. i haven't bought it for a while but whenever i read it i don't have intense dislike for it, i just am disappointed on spending $7.95 for such a quick read. i like kristie clements and she probably does the best job for the magazine she's been 'given' but it could improve of course. whenver i read russh i'm inspired because it features australian models, designers and fashion week. maybe that's what vogue is lacking (in some areas).

yeah i'm feeling the love for vogue australia tonight :P

Glad I found this thread - I have been nothing but disappointed with Aus Vogue all year. I usually flick through mags first and then go back later in depth, but I'm finding my Vogues never get picked up again as there's nothing there that captures my attention enough. US Vogue I find fantastic, as do I British Vogue and US Elle.

I thought Aus Follow is out of production now - something about it's sponsor dying? 'Twas certainly a good mag though, and very fresh. Russh is my favourite Aussie mag. I find Madison very quickly turned almost as blah as New Woman. After Russh I guess Marie Claire would be the next choice for an Aussie mag, but there's no real spark there for me.. I feel like I'm buying the Aussie mags to fill time between finding OS mags in my stores here.

I know it's a wrong thread to ask:doh: but I didn't find a thread on July issue of Australian Vogue and really need this , can anyone scan it please

sorry for disturbing with my silly questions:rolleyes:

I have this Vogue and a scanner at work - I'll do this for you tomorrow, Sweet Rus. :flower:

Sometimes Vogue Australia, focuses to much on "homegrown talent." Sure, Paris & American Vogue they do to but not that much Aussie really overdoes it. Sometimes too much is not a good thing.

I think it's so funny  Everyone complains and complains, including myself, how Aus Vogue covers are always reprints, and when there are finally original ones with models, such as this month's Alice Burdeu cover, people still complain; I understand we all have every right to be critical, but it just seems that whatever Aus Vogue do, they will always be in the wrong.

I honestly believe that things are going to start picking up for the mag. The recent acquisition of the magazine by News Limited (from FPC) should mean there'll be a bigger budget. We've already been given two original covers in a row, Cate and Alice (this has gotta be a record! ).

Really? I don't think they overdo it at all. And that's the main problem with the magazine, they tend to take bits and pieces from other editions. I would like to see more homegrown talent - photographers, designers, writers and models.

Models. Imo, are the most overused. Gemma deserves it. But the others? Miranda? Ugh....not really. But there should be a turn around like you said. It has a bigger budget to work with.

^^ Gemma has gotten a cover before, I'm sure, but it'll be nice to have her again as well as an editorial.

Maybe models like Grace Small would be good. She wouldn't be too expensive...

I am absolutely dissapointed with Australian Vogue. Its becoming worse and worse with each issue.

They have also used Mischa Barton on the cover three times (two of which editorials have been taken from other magazines).

Actually, Mischa Barton has only been on the cover twice and both of the editorials were originals, not reprints. I admit the quality of Australian Vogue can be terrible but you could at least get your facts right.

Or too expressive :ninja::lol:
